Is There Any Addition to Rice Krispie Squares That Makes Them Better Than The Original?

Those may be excellent but do they have any relation to a Rice Krispie Treat? (really asking)

Yes you mix them in with the treats. Some people use chocolate chips instead.

It looks like sushi but made out of candy and sweets. Rolls, nigiri, and gundam use the Krispie mix instead of rice. Fruit rollups in place of nori. Other candy ingredients to fill rolls. Green chocolate for wasabi. Green and yellow licorice whips to make up something resembling seaweed salad. I made huge batches of these for Xmas presents. I got a box full of little takeout sushi containers and included a little PC of honey and chopsticks to finish off the look. Candy nachos were also a big hit, but no Krispie mix in those.

Ah…I see. Yeah, I have seen many additions like chocolate chips (as you mentioned) or M&Ms (basically bigger chocolate chips).

Finely chopped roasted almonds are a nice addition. A lady at work brought almond rice krispie bars to pot luck a few times.

I’m lazy and only make the basic rice krispie bars.

Another classic we make are the Eagle Brand Milk Magic Bars.

Rice Crispie bars and Magic Bars are my sweetest childhood memory. The amount of sugar makes me cringe. But I still eat :yum: them once in awhile. But only a couple pieces. I take the rest of the pan to work and leave in the breakroom. It’s always empty when I go home. LOL

Yes. Rice crispy treats are amenable to lots of add ins.

You have succeeded in making Rice Krispie Squares more colourful.

Did you eat them in a boat?
Did you eat them with a goat?

I’ve had them here
I’ve had them there
I’ve had them in my underwear.

Jack Daniel’s?

Their structural possibilities are impressive. Most of the constructions on Cake Wars are RKT with elaborate fondant covering

Eeeeewwwww. I’m a drinker, but no. Just no.

Edible* Sugru.

*For varying definitions of “edible”

I recently made some rice krispy treats with Indian spices. The recipe had chopped chopped dates and cardamom. They were very popular at our potluck and they were a little less overly sweet than the traditional recipe.

Peanut butter, butterscotch chips and Rice Krispies is the only way I make them, and I got that right off the box. Sounds valid to me.

Personally, I hate the marshmallow ones. I hate smores, too. But that’s just me.

For my house, adding a mostly-tart freeze dried fruit is the winning element. Because to me (and my wife) default rice krispie squares at a little too sweet and bland.

So freeze dried raspberries, or other fruit of choice makes just enough of a contrast in flavor to elevate the whole thing. Alternately, candied citrus peel (orange or lemon normally) does the same thing.

And we’ve tried slivered and crushed nuts as well, which were nice, but didn’t provide the strong flavor contrast we wanted.

Or his version with Kerrygold (I bet this would be great, but I wouldn’t waste Kerrygold on RKS personally)

Nobody else has mentioned little cinnamon candies yet?

I make mine with peanut butter instead of marshmallow. My kids won’t eat them any other way.

Omg taking notes.

Someone please make the greatest hits RKT poll!

I would have mashed Aero bars to get wasabi.

How do you do the nachos, if I may ask?
