Let’s go for a record bump to IMHO. But really, any that hold a candle? I can only think of How Stuff Works.
If there were a free one that was better, you would be asking this question there and not here
For a price, answers.google.com .
Argh! I’m tired of this google crap. I wanted affirmation that this was the best. Al Franken ain’t doing it for me anymore.
I think that was affirmation that this is the best.
I think this board is good enough, smart enough, and dog gonnit, people like it.
Gmork, you know what I meant. Argh. This isn’t what it was supposed to be. Oh well.
Of course it is the best - ask Cecil!
I’m sorry, I wasn’t trying to be patronising or anything. I just thought that alterego gave a pretty good answer with: ‘It’s the best one that’s free’ (abridged quote).
I assume you really wanted a list of similar boards to the SDMB - I’m sorry, I don’t know any that even compare to it. But I hope someone has some better answers for you
This forum is great for getting questions answered.
But it is sooo slow compared to almost any other discussion forums. Admittedly I have dial up but this discussion forum seems to be the slowest of any even allowing for that.
Why is that?
(Also this is the only forum I know of that doesn’t let you edit for typos.)
this is imploding, please moderator delete the thread!
If you knew it was going to get bumped to IMHO why did you put it in GQ to begin with? Afraid the Mods have nothing better to occupy them?
Part of what makes the SDMB the best is posters posting in the right forum.
I thought it would be answers to other boards while this one is down that is as informative as this. That or it would turn into a poll, hence the IMHO mention.
That’s all. Take it how you want.
Owee…that makes my head hurt…
Are there any message boards that offer better answers to questions?
or
Is there a message board that offers better answers to questions?
Grammar and spelling questions solved.
Next!
Oh yeah? Take this one on. I dare ya.
I usually ask computer questions on this forum:
I can get better technical answers there. For example, I needed help manually setting the CMOS on an old computer, and got the help I needed there.
I also find that for a very technical question, it’s best to go to a less busy forum. This board is so busy questions fall off the first page quickly. On other forums, the message stays on the main page longer, and has a better chance of being answered.
There are message boards that are more specialized to a particular subject.
For instance, last year, I purchased a 2002 Acura RSX-S. I had some questions about it, and I found forums.clubrsx.com.
There, I was able to find a ton of information about the car, more than I ever wanted.
Also, I’m into bodybuilding, and I find a wealth of information at forum.bodybuilding.com.
But, just for general questions, this forum is second to none.
If you have computer questions, geekcentral is the ArsTechnica Openforums
To any possible kind of question, like this one did, I don’t know any. However, there are plenty of boards where you’ll find better answers to specific questions, because these boards are precisely dedicaced to this issue.
Other posters have mentionned computer-related boards, and to give an other example, I often advise people asking travel-related questions to check a travel board, where they’ll find much more, and also more detailled answers from many aknowledgeable travellers (the three boards I mention regularily are www.fodors.com, www.eurotrip.com and www.lonelyplanet.com, depending on the kind of travel one is envisionning).
Not sure why two of the links I mentionned above don’t work (though the boards aren’t down, I just checked them). Perhaps I misplaced the dots. Trying again :
