This r/cannedsardines discussion makes it sound like Brunswick, at least, is widely available in Canada. Also look for German imported Rugenfisch, outstanding herring fillets in a bunch of sauce flavors and formats (smoked, peppered)

But it looks like shipping may be pricey.
The market two blocks away from me claims to have 100g tins of kippered sardines for C$2.79. Maybe I’ll try them. I make a breakfast spread of sardines, cream cheese, cottage cheese and I could sub these.
I haven’t had tinned kippers in a while. I’ll have to get some as a change from sardines.
Yeah, SWMBO says I have to eat my sardines outside (when she’s home).
I could get fresh kippers from the shop at Ye Olde King’s Head in Santa Monica when I lived in L.A. Can’t get them up here.
1 as repeatedly stated, I am not interested in sardines.
2 also as stated, Brunswick kippered herrings are not available in any stores in my town. That’s exactly the product I used to buy and enjoy until they disappeared from the stores about two years ago.
3 I guess you just don’t believe me.
4 thanks for playing.
I feel your pain.
I don’t doubt you. Sorry that the one I found was a frozen option, but still looking.
Says the 12 pack is available, although if you want a smaller quantity I have no idea. For the record, Amazon.ca says only 6 left. I wonder if they’re transitioning away from the herring and all we’re finding is old stock.
Although I don’t know the difference between “snacks” and straight kippered herrings. I also don’t know if smoked is a no-go for you.
Can these be used to cut down the mightiest tree in the forest?
Cut down a tree with a herring? It can’t be done.
I don’t know if the British Food Shop has anything but you might take a look.
I have bookmarked them for some time now for other reasons but it does appear they have quite an assortment of canned fish products.
Well.ca claims to have Bar Harbor Natural Smoked Kippered Herring, although they list the ingredients as “Sardine Fillets, Salt”.
Go to the Customer Service window and ask if they can order a case for you. They may not carry them on the shelf, but it doesn’t mean the warehouse doesn’t have them. Worth a shot.
I searched “kippered snacks Canada” and Kersen’s was the first hit. No fu needed. Just type what you’re looking for and ignore Amazon
I just tried to order them to be shipped to my aunt’s address in Toronto and it seemed like it would work.
The description says it’s herring, not sardines.
CAD 39.95 for 15 100g cans. $20 shipping. So CAD 4.00 a can. I can get the Brunswick brand from our local store for USD 2.49, which’s is CAD 3.43. So the price is not outrageous.
That looks interesting. Will investigate further. Thanks.
