Good point, These two songs really were the highlights of “Abbey Road”, which was a fantastic album as a whole.

Love that song. I would bet “Here Comes the Sun” has a wider appear. But what do I know?
I know Frank Sinatra thought Something is one of the greatest love songs ever. He actually thought Paul and John wrote it.
Yeah, “Something” is one of my favorites.
And “Something” has one of my favorite guitar solos. So elegant and tasteful.
That’s my favorite Beatles song, period.
And some people simply really dislike the things you like very much. For instance, “Kokomo” and most of the Beach Boys’ catalog is a trip to the dentist for me.
Here is Frank performing it. Heh, it’s much worse in his version.
I feel the same way about some of the whiny 70s and 80s hits other people here adore. So what?
I won’t click it, I hate Sinatra and don’t want to hear him butchering a classic.
He should have just sung the song normal. Instead, he slowed it down and turned it into, well, a Sinatra song. I won’t say ruined, but much worse than George singing it.
Was this before or after Guardians of the Galaxy II? Because I think that was just a temporary blip.
FTR, I would nix it too.
I do, but let’s see what the jury says.
Beach Boys had some fun, wild stuff in the late 60s and 70s, especially one of my favorite albums (besides the obvious Pet Sounds in the mid-60s), with Love You. What a crazy album. Sunflower is great, too. I won’t opine directly on “Kokomo,” though just writing that gives away my hand.
What’s weird is that Lisa Loeb has been mentioned, and for the love of God, I just don’t remember that song, “Stay,” for some reason. I recognize her–I can pick her out of a lineup; I know who she is; I remember her having quite the following when I was in college, I’ve seen Reality Bites, but my brain has apparently completely erased all knowledge of her songs. Just weird.
Only 17 voters in, and only 6 have made the cut so far (for posterity):
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Dancing Queen - Abba
Dock of the Bay - Otis Redding
Hey Jude - The Beatles
Ode to Joy - Beethoven
Yesterday - Beatles
“Stay” (which I really, really like) is used only in the closing credits, unlike “Tempted (By the Fruit of Another)” (which I’m fairly indifferent to) which is used diegeticly in the scene where they cause Ben Stiller to wreck his car, or “My Sharona” (which I like okay) which is used diegeticly in the scene where they discover that Evian is “naive” spelled backwards.
(Incidentally, the movie hasn’t aged well for me: the last time I watched it I noticed that Ben Stiller was the most mature adult of any of them and the rest were kinda duchebags, including Winona Ryder.)
I was 20 when it came out, saw it in the theater, and thought exactly the same thing.
Submitted for the group’s approval: Thin Lizzy - “The Boys are Back in Town.”
Does anyone not like that one?
I dislike that song quite a lot.
.
I think this one was voted out.
Yup:
