Best Song Ever

I have a $50.00 itunes gift certificate and want to download 50 great songs. What is your favorite song ever. For me, it depends on the day, and today I think “The Greatest Discovery” by Elton John, although in the past it has been others. Anyway, style, artist, etc. does not matter. I would rather have a song I have never heard of before.

Can’t be answered.

I will tell you that my two favorite rock “anthems” are both by The Who – Baba O’Riley and Won’t Get Fooled Again.

I also love several works by Beethoven and Mozart, but I can’t imaging putting them on a scale against rock & roll tunes and deciding which I like more.

Easy. “I Melt With You” by Modern English. It’s a medley of their hit.

Best Song Ever by Katie Armiger.

One of my all-time favourite songs is Unbelievable by EMF.

OP, you might be interested in this site, which is a compendium of lists of great contemporary music. For many of the songs you can just click on the title and listen to it immediately.

One other resource I will point you to. At Rhapsody’s mp3 site, you can search for and listen to songs in their entirety, though there is a limit of something like 25 a month. And if you use your imagination, there are ways to get around that limit.

I’m fond of “By the Rivers Dark” by Leonard Cohen. (from the Ten New Songs album)

Moved IMHO --> Cafe Society.

Free Bird

We Go In My City (You Got Vocal) -DJ Marshell

That is my favorite song ever. It gets me pumped up and energized every time I listen to it. No matter how bad of a mood I’m in, this song will get me moving and at least not wishing everyone but me was dead.

Others have come close to dethroning the king, but none have succeeded.

EDIT: If anyone happens to own the CD this song originally appeared on (Disc 5 or so from 100 Best Techno Songs Ever compilation) I’d love to buy it and the whole collection. My copy of the song is unfortunately not the most legal or high quality and I’d love to be able to rip it directly from a CD.

This question is virtually impossible to answer, but it is difficult to deny the greatness of “One Love” by Bob Marley.

Bongolia.

Paranoid Android by Radiohead

ETA: I answered the title of the thread (best song ever), but the OP asks my favourite song ever. That would be Interstate Love Song by Stone Temple Pilots. Not the greatest song ever written but I love it, and have loved it for decades.

Appeal to Reason by Rise Against. The whole album.

ETA: (13 songs for $9.49 on Amazon, don’t know what it is on iTunes.)

I don’t know if it’s the best song ever, but I don’t think it’s possible to listen to “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness and be unhappy at the end of it.

I don’t know if it qualifies as a “song” exactly, but if I were compiling a playlist of wonder, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue would be on it.

“TiK ToK” by Kesha. In no particular order, other contenders include “Blow” by Kesha, “We R Who We R” by Kesha, “Take It Off” by Kesha, “Backstabber” by Kesha, and “Crazy Beautiful Life” by Kesha.

I probably have a different favourite song every week, but this week, it’s “Stay Together” by Suede.

The Mummers’ Dance by Loreena McKennitt.

Gus Visser and His Singing Duck’s rendition of Ma! He’s Makin’ Eyes at Me:

Un-beatable.
