I recently tried commenting on a Youtube video. It had a song in the intro and no link to what the song was. Every other comment was “What is that song?” The problem was, in order to comment I had to create a new Google+ Youtube profile. It insists on using my real name and insists on clearing every single thing I had on my old profile. No more favorites, no more subscriptions, et cetera.
I don’t care if Google absolutely must crawl up my butt so I can post a comment. But I would find it painful to manually resubscribe to dozens of channels and manually re-favorite and re-like hundreds of videos. Is there any way to make this painless?
I don’t know how much help this is, but when I had to create a G+ account to make comments, I had to use a “name” for which I used an alias I already use on facebook. G+ then linked that account to my YouTube account which is under SeaDragonTattoo. YouTube is always asking me which user name I want to use and I’m constantly clicking the SeaDragon choice. Once I clicked the alias name and yeah, everything was blank and I panicked a bit, thinking that one wrong click erased everything, but I was able to switch user names and everything’s still there. I haven’t figured out how to make the choice go away, I will never use the new user name unless they delete the old one without my permission.
I went through pretty much the same gamut of experiences, all of t hem seemingly random and none of them intuitive, until finally they stopped asking me, and it has again become its old lovable self.
