Youtube Comments

So, youtube is revamping their comment system and it’s a big ole grab bag. We are now able to link videos, control privacy access and edit comments but at the same time, you now have to have a G+ page to comment and unless you uncheck a box every time you comment, it automatically gets pushed to your G+ newsfeed. Also, no one can reply to a comment that’s not xposted to G+, aka any comment ever made before this changeover.

My understanding is that it’s part of a drive to cut down on the general terribleness by making users more accountable, because who wants to be generically racist or offensive if everyone on G+ can see it, but at the same time, could they be any more obvious in their attempt to prop up G+?

Youtube comments are generally terrible, but there has to be a happy medium between anonymous and using your real name.

You don’t have to use your real name on youtube itself but, yeah, you’d have to link to your real name G+ account so I don’t know how much a difference it will end up being.
