Go to a salon where they do it professionally. My friend has it done about once every 3 months.
I had it done about a year ago, in a salon.
I found it really stung after a while, while it was processing … it was like there were ‘fumes’ of some kind. The esthetician said she’d never seen that kind of reaction,and yes, it was some kind of vegetable dye/tint that’s especially for that purpose.
I have hay fever allergies though, and it makes my eyes pretty sensitive, and since it was at the beginning of spring, maybe that was why.
She took it off after a few minutes of processing (about half the usual time I think) and warned me that the dye hadn’t really “taken” and I shouldn’t expect it to last very long.
It didn’t (and my eyes stung for a couple of days), BUT while it did last I was very happy with it, especially on the bottom lashes. I found it emphasized my eyes (my lashes are naturally pretty nondescript, with blond tips to boot) in a really pretty and natural way.
I may have it done again, but I’ll call around first and see if anyone has a more gentle product. It was quite inexpensive, and there were no long-lasting effects, so I would say go for it!
