Is there anything by Carole King I need to hear besides "Tapestry?"

If I had to make a short list of “perfect” albums, Tapestry would absolutely be on it. Every song is a flawless example of pop songwriting, and I will never get tired of it. Still, for whatever reason, I have little interest in anything else Carole King has recorded. I have Really Rosie, but have never really given it a close listen. Part of me does not want to be disappointed after listening to pop perfection, silly as that is, and I guess that is what keeps holding me back.

So tell me, dopers. Are there any other Carole King “must haves,” or is it OK to just listen to Tapestry for the rest of my life?

“Jazzman,” from Wrap Around Joy, was her only really important single after Tapestry. You might get a kick out of Pearls: Songs of Goffin and King, to hear her version of hits she wrote for other people.

I played Music (the album after Tapestry) for the first time in a long, long time.
It still sounded ok, and if you fancy hearing live versions of her songs, I quite like the album that came out in the mid-90s, Concert. (This is the cd of the dvd In Concert but the cd drops the ‘In’.)
Dreadful opening track called Hard Rock Cafe, though.

You mean she had other albums?

Tapestry isn’t really my favourite style of music, but for purely artistic purposes I’ve got to admit it would be on my top 10 list of albums of all time. You’re right, every song is flawless.

“Sweet Seasons” is my favorite Carole King song, i.e., song that she herself performs. It’s on “Music.”

Some people call “Tapestry” her James Taylor album.
