Well, on the whole, male sexuality ensures that our species continues to propagate, so that’s a win.

But beyond that, at least in comparison to female sexuality, us guys probably got the short end of the stick. Men generally want to have sex far more than women; men are more sexually aroused by visuals than women, and we can’t even share in the multiple orgasms that women can enjoy when they have sex.

C’est la vie.

Most women can’t have a single orgasm easily, let alone multiples. Many, many women cannot orgasm from intercourse alone, yet many men get all huffy when a woman tries to introduce a toy into the bedroom. And of course women’s sexuality has been kind of put in the closet and locked up for a long time - if you like it too much clearly you’re a whore.

About time someone around here said it out loud. I was wondering when somone would point out the elephant in the room.

Oh, yeah, I’m totally a jerk. Not pretending otherwise. So maybe I shouldn’t blame my sex drive, and instead just declare myself incompetent to drive it. As I said, I mostly wish it would go away. As I was getting at earlier, this thread has reminded me that other people are capable of driving theirs safely, while enjoying the experience, and not getting into too many accidents.

And, I know, you could say: “Why not simply stop being a jerk?” Well, the problem is, I don’t always realize that I’m being a jerk. I look back now at situations where my behavior somehow made sense to me at a time, but now it’s obvious that I was being a jerk. It seems foolish to think that it couldn’t happen again.

If I didn’t want to bonk anyone, I’d still be a jerk. But at least I would be a jerk in the privacy of my own home, as opposed to a jerk rummaging around in other people’s underwear.

Only the worst of the worst intend to be jerks. And everyone is a jerk to some degree at some times. But a fatalistic attitude doesn’t help.

So you don’t notice when you’re being a jerk. So figure out what it means to be a jerk and try to catch yourself when it happens. The same way someone with depression has to catch when they think depressed thoughts or an anxious person has to catch anxious thoughts.

You clearly can not be a jerk, as I’ve never really felt you were a jerk to anyone here–at least, not for any extended period. And you don’t like being a jerk. So why not try?

It’s a lot easier than trying to get rid of your libido, that’s for sure.

Yes. Or, well, I don’t know if that phrase has ever come up in conversation. But I do sometimes feel like I should come with a warning tag attached: “Will sometimes become creepy and stupid when aroused.” I’ve certainly apologized quite a lot for stupid shit I’ve done because I was horny.

Certainly when I was younger. Less so now, though, I suppose. One benefit of getting older.

Everything you’ve listed here is individual behavior and has nothing to do with “male sexuality”. For instance, there are women who have ruined relationships with male friends because they wanted it to become sexual and he didn’t.

I believe this is actually less a function of male sexuality and more a function of male behavior. Sexuality and behavior, while sometimes related, are not inextricably intertwined. One need not behave badly to express one’s sexuality, male or not.

True, but a human male can perform sexually with all of his higher reasoning centers destroyed. As happens every weekend to many men.

I’d argue, that if anything, it’s become more homogeneous. Television, internet, interstates, and increased mobility have all worked to make the US less diverse, culturally. Who lives in the same town they were born in, anymore?

I think there certainly is a mainstream: that doesn’t mean everybody belongs to it, merely that it exists. A hundred or 150 years ago, if you’d talked about “mainstream”, people wouldn’t know what you’re talking about. Today - while certainly not everybody agrees with it - they do.

If you spend all day reading opinion pieces on liberal/feminist Internet sites, you can get the impression that everyone believes that stuff now, because you never hear any other points of view.

But there’s a whole other world out there. If you live in the US, try driving through a remote rural area in the South or Midwest, and surf the radio. Try joining a Mason lodge or some other club for good old boys. Or just try watching Fox News for a week. You’ll find attitudes you thought died out fifty years ago.

You’re right, of course, that cultural diversity still exists. Some “fundamentalist” Mormons, for example, still practice polygamy. AM talk radio is a microcosm of fear, hate, and lies. There may be communes out there practicing free love and communism. But they’re are not part of mainstream culture.
