Just as the title says. Can you search for instances where people directly responded to something you posted?
Thanks.
Search your username. If they use the “Quote” feature, your name will be there and pop up on a search.
The “vanity search” of using your Username as a Keyword, with the wildcard * at the end of it will pickup anything like <your username>'s and such. I do mine by searching for Zeldar* and any time I’m mentioned by name comes up.
It doesn’t.
Yes but not when you’re quoted. If the poster doesn’t invoke your name in their post the quoting post doesn’t come up.
Then I don’t know another way. In your specific case, try gadai in the keyword search. You may get extraneous stuff, but with two separate parts to your name, it may be necessary.
Sure it does. I just did a vanity search, and the only thing that popped up in red in a number of threads is my name in the quote box: Originally Posted by silenus.

Maybe nothing – I just did the same thing and see the same results you describe. Since it works for me, I’m wondering if the search function isn’t somehow automatically replacing the í with an i before running the search. Which would mean there’s nothing you can do about it.
Let that be a lesson to you for using one of those crazy foreign characters. Not on my SDMB, mister!
A search for “An Gada*” might work.
Or not. Tried, and since it won’t allow “an” as a keyword, generated way too many false positives.
If you’re using Advanced Search, on the left side put gadai in the Keyword box and select “search entire posts” and “search all open forums.” That should bring up all occurrences of your name in the text of the posts. Unless others refer to your name, that approach will not work. If they have quoted you without mentioning your name, you’d have to know some keyword(s) in your original post(s)to search for. That could get unwieldy.
I just hit Control-F and use the browser’s search function. Type in Joey and hit enter a few times. I’ll get my name up at the very top of the page, then my post then I’ll find out if I was quoted or mentioned anywhere in that thread. Fastest and most reliable method I know of assuming you’re searching within a specific thread and not on across the entire board.
You can even click to the next page and your search string will stay in the search box (at least in Firefox and I think it will in IE and Chrome as well) and then just keep hitting enter.
That’s it, I’m moving over to GB post haste.
This does most of the work for you.
Also, if you hit “More Search Tools” on the left and choose Past 24 hours or Past Week it’ll give you more relevant results and you don’t end up with year old posts mixed in.
