I had someone snoopy in my favorite places folder and well they deleted some stuff I wanted to keep … anyway I can undelete them? all ive seen is commercial programs that supposedly have ways to do so…

Did you backup your favorites folder? If so, just copy from that backup.
If it’s a website you’ve visited recently, start typing the name – many times it will fill in the rest of the name and take you there, and then you can re-add it to your favorites.
Try switching to a good browser, like Chrome or Firefox – sometimes the ‘import favorites from another browser’ function will recover lost ones.
