is there electronic cribbage?

As I played some cribbage today with a friend of mine, I wondered if there exists anywhere a hand-held electronic version of this game. I don’t mean a computer program or online game (these I know exist). I’m talking about the handheld type of game you’d find for $20 in a toy store (but which I, um, haven’t seen in a toy store). I know they make pocket electronic Yahtzee, blackjack, poker, and even slot machines but I’ve yet to see cribbage.

I did an online search but found nothing but cribbage boards. Does anyone here know if such an electronic game exists, and if so, who makes it and where it can be found?

Thanks!

Google, “cribbage handheld”.

That’s pretty good, Duck Duck Goose, but the OP is not looking for a program to run on a handheld computer. They’re looking for a handheld computer that only plays one game - cribbage. The handheld games I’m familiar with look kind of like this.

You’re right, Achernar. I did find lots of downloadable games when I did my Google search. I guess I’m looking for pretty low-tech here. Maybe someone will come along soon with some good news for me…

I did a decent (although not exhaustive) search and was surprised that I didn’t find a cribbage version of these games. We have the Yahtzee one at home. They have versions of Monopoly, Battleship, Euchre, Spades, several Solitaires, Poker, etc., but I couldn’t find Cribbage.

I know that they exist, or used to, because I owned one with an LCD display about 10 or 15 years ago. I checked ebay, but didn’t see anything, though you might want to try that search periodically.

Drat. I’ve looked all over but found nothing. Fear Itself, do you by any chance remember the company that made the one you used to have?

Sorry, nineiron, the name escapes me, as do many things that happend 10 years ago.

Hey do you know what is a 29 hand and how does it count up to 29? I was told that it is 4-5s and the jack of nobs but when count it out on paper I always get 23 points…how do they get 29 out of that?

5-5-5 makes fifteen (four different ways - 8 points)
J-5 makes fifteen (four different ways - 8 points)
5-5 makes a pair (six different ways - 12 points)
J of nobs (1 point)

8 + 8 + 12 + 1 = 29

Now, anybody have a link to a good online cribbage?

I usually go to the Yahoo site for online Cribbage…pretty good, I am sure there are others out there (yahoo.com)

In my opinion there is better competition at Yahoo, but better graphics at MSN gaming zone

Beware though, when playing cribbage on line, the cuts are weird. They’re not at all like IRL. Both sites will invariably cut into your, or your opponent’s hand. This means that you have to save what you would normally throw into the crib.

If you’re in the DFW area, there is a tourney every Monday at 7:00 at the Point After North bar in Flower Mound

“Jack of nobs”? We always just call it “right Jack”…

I can’t believe that there are electronic versions of slot machines and fishing but not of cribbage.

If anyone finds the electronic cribbageboard, please let me know. I’'d like to make an entry to my blog about. The blog is more of a collectors information site that I add info about various types of vintage crib boards to. http://www.cribbageboardsforsale.com

I won’t be able to find it at work, but google “cribbage online” and you’ll get some good hits. There’s one version that has bunnies and flowers and fields in the background. It’s excellent.
