I’m sure there must be a program available which lets you put in your room measurements and your furniture measurements an lets you play with rearranging your furniture. This wouldn’t have to be the main function of the program, but I do bet there is software out there which ends up giving you a way to do this.
Am I right? What software is it? Googling “rearrange furniture” gave me nothing.
A Java applet would be the bestest. But that might be hard.

Well, Visio does this but it’s probably more than you want to pay. I’ll sit back while people clock in with open-source solutions.
Try this flash app. I ran across it on Century 21’s site a few days ago while I was looking for a mortgage calculator.

It requires Shockwave. You start by picking room type and size. Then you add standard furniture, and then click Info to enter the exact size. The number entry is a little clunky, it seems to support backspace but not delete.
Check out this free program. Room Arranger lets you set up your rooms and your furniture, then move the furniture around. It does have 3D capabilities, but I’ve only used 2D.
Anyway, it’s free and you can play around with it all you want.
