DO **NOT **WORK HERE. this place scammed me out of the hundreds of dollars they owe me and I had to file a case with IDSC against them.
And is this tolerated by Home Depot (sorry, The Home Depot)? Do you wander the aisles, or is there a kiosk in their kitchen area? I would hate getting accosted when I know what I want when I’m shopping. You might have better luck in the parking lot with a “hire me for two hours of manual labor for $50” sign, but they probably wouldn’t like that either.
I know a number of people who have good income delivering newspapers - good advice!
At least around here it is typical to see a bunch of guys hovering around outside home depot that are looking for cash day labor work. I doubt they are paying $25/hr, probably more like $10/hr
It’s the zombies in the chainsaw aisle that bug me.
also, this sounds like every scam sales pitch I’ve been sent… time-share, ameritrade, refinancing mortgages… “we’ll pay you a stupidly trivial amount of money, unless you bust your ass and make a shit-ton of sales, and then we’ll give you a promotion out of that job rather than pay you more, so you can train other people to make a ton of sales…” The burnout rate is fantastic.
Too bad the OP never came back with an update. Did you take the job? Was it as gawd-awful as everybody here has been saying?
“Is this a semi-legit MLM job opportunity?” So. The TL;DR from this whole thread seems to be: “legit MLM job opportunity” is an oxymoron. Add the qualifier “semi-” to obtain “semi-legit MLM job opportunity” and it’s still an oxymoron.

[/ol]They ( access marketing solutions ) made me walk around for hours pretendin “not to be a sales-person” approaching people that did NOT want what i had to present them, and then when i tried to tell my manager Avery that these people were not gunna do it she told me i dont want it enuf, then we have these time consuming sell your soul meetings… but Home Depot… yes… they tolerate this crew:smack:
this job… a complete waste of my 2 weeks… i wud rather flip burgers
As a telemarketer, I second this. And the people I’m calling can’t see how apologetic I am. If you keep a smile on your face it’s surprising how helpful some of them are, even the ones who are NOT helpfully getting the name of somebody else to sic me on. However, I am calling business-to-business for a well-known company (“Are we a customer of yours?” “I assume so. Everybody else is.”). Calling civilians is hell, but it is still better than the job in the OP.
I know someone who works for a flooring installer that gets all of their work from Home Despot…they install crap product for really cheap. This guy works full time but still qualifies for food stamps and other aid. We all pay for big box prices in the end, one way or another…
sales is such a sink or swim position and not the type of job I would want when rent and bills have to be paid
You can have a good month and then once you have a bad one they want to get rid of you
I worked there, it is a legit business not a scam so breathe easy. It’s a young persons job and I don’t mean to say that offensively. You are on your feet for 7 hours a day walking at a fast pace talking to everyone and I mean everyone that you see. It’s very taxing on the body and mind since you have to have a great attitude, and I mean everything is sunshine lollipops attitude. I was only with them for two weeks.
The reasons I quite were there were no benefits, long hours, it was six days a week, a ton of driving that you don’t get compensated for (seriously I spent around 150$ before quitting) and no one seemed understanding of any problems outside of work. I had a massive panic attack one day and couldn’t go into work. When I came back the next day I felt penalized and personally attacked for going to the doctors.
With all my griping I did learn a lot. You will learn really good sales techniques that you can use in other jobs and this job is a great stepping stone for that next career. It’s just sticking it through to get to that next stage in life. The coworkers are really nice and awesome. They were willing to help me with any problem I encountered and acted like a cheering team when I got a lead. It was really cool to be apart for that reason.
Honestly the decision is yours. I wouldn’t recommend this job to my enemy but that’s me. You may be amazing at this and think I didn’t know what I’m missing out on. I hope that would be the case. For me I didn’t like it for the reasons I stated above. Hopefully this will help you reach an informed decision. Best wishes.
Are you sure the position is still open after 2 years? I know you say it’s not a scam, but from the way you describe it, it sure sounds like Access Marketing Solutions is a scam, or at the very least terrible.
Since the OP was written over two years ago, I’m gonna guess, they either figured it out already, or they now own the company.
But zombies don’t bother with kitchen remodels.
I don’t know about that. Last week I was in the Home Depot, and there was this empty eyed guy in ragged clothes staggering through the plumbing fixtures aisle moaning, “DDRRRRAAAAIIINNNNSSSS”
Bothering people who are trying to shop is not a decent living, no matter how much money you make.
The other day at Home Depot, one of these people interrupted our conversation for exactly this purpose–we were intently going over a drawing and trying to determine what parts we needed to solve a problem and it was incredibly obvious. I am normally very polite, so I did not tell her to go f*ck herself. Instead I curtly told her she was bothering us and quickly turned away, as I refuse to reward or encourage this behavior. My SO is normally excessively easy-going, but he ran with my lead and told her off a bit harshly. He later realized that this was kind of enjoyable, so the person actually managed to make a nice person less nice, maybe even forever!
Top 10 zombie joke of the year so far.
