Hey guys. I read this forum everyday. Don’t post often, but I LOVE the Q&A, discussions, etc.
Long explanation, last paragraph has my main question…
Because I respect you guys so much, I just wanted to run this by you. I’m from WV, and I’m a student in KY. I was pulled over going home for Christmas for speeding (like 5 over!) The big deal wasn’t speeding, from what the officer said (great guy) I think he was just warning me. But I gave him an expired Insurance Card. So he had to cite me… which I understand. The officer told me all I had to do was fax in the card and it would all get dismissed. He included the speeding on the ticket.
To make the long story short, I went to court to get it all dismissed and only the insurance part was. First points on my license ever.
I’m about to turn 25 which is when I hear insurance rates go down. Will mine? If so, how many points margin is there? Say… one more ticket and it stays/jumps? I’ve never had a ticket before.
Would it pay to take traffic school? I would have to get it in my home state, I know because I called. But here is the kicker… they haven’t received my ticket yet! So, I’m asking, would it be wise to take this interim period and switch my license over to my new state. Legally I can do that, because I could be considered a resident here (I can vote here already!). Would my ticket somehow follow me? How would they know to send it back?
Just wondering about our legal system, and you all know the most!
