My immediate impression is that there is too much to focus on, I find my eyes darting around the picture. I think the left hand tower needs a more vertical presentation. I might tray a crop the basically cut the picture in two, try both to the right of the center pillar like object and to the left and see what the effect it. There might be two really excellent pictures here instead of one.
Oh, when I said more vertical, I didn’t mean you should straighten it, I like the lean. I just meant that out probably needs a crop that is taller than it is wide.
It’s a little flat; I’d punch up the contrast a bit. There aren’t any real highlights in the image, it’s just midtone and shadow.
I also don’t like the way the peaked roof on the left bleeds off the top of the frame as it does. It looks like there’s a pole with a funky finial (like that one further back) that I’d like to see, with some sky above it, but you probably cropped that out in the original, right?
Otherwise, cool shot. And B/W definitely works for this.
There is a finial there (top left tower) - I missed it when I took the pic (and have kicked myself in the ass for not including it ever since):smack:
Thanks for the opinions, all!
