Is this picture sexy to you and if so....

Actually repelling to me. Hate the eye make-up.

Thank you everyone for the responses!

I guess the only conclusion i can draw is that I’m a freak by SD standards!

Edit: I want to point out in case this runs into a mod saying “You’re not doing a Hot or Not thread are you?” I was really wanting to discuss Western subtle body language generally found to be sexy and the biological reasons someone might find them so…but beauty being in the eye of the beholder reallllly seems to be a much higher factor then I thought.

Indeed. She looks threatening to me; as if she might stab anybody who came too close.

Ha! So i guess you don’t think Aubrey Plaza is sexy either!

Speaking as someone that can appreciate a good vintage/retro look, that image really doesn’t do much for me. She’s not unattractive but that picture isn’t exceptional.

I think she’s kinda cute, but I’ve always preferred Katie Pierson, especially in R.E.M’s video for Shiny Happy People.

That hair and eyeliner is too much like Myra Hindley

Is this any better?

I don’t think its particularly different but maybe its less ‘threatening’

I don’t think she was trying to be sexy in that pic. So the question seems rather odd to me.

Yes, quite a bit.

Actually, yes. I do prefer the second picture but I didn’t interpret the first picture as threatening at all and I’m kinda into threatening women!

Good point in that this is an exaggerated stage look – and how the gesture itself when not taken over-the-top can be a more conventionally “sexy” look. But what’s in the OP picture is a deliberately overblown caricature of some “sexy” style tropes for purposes of the show.

And yes, DrDeth, Amber could really work the look of the mid-80s.

To clarify…I’m into women that are a little threatening, I’m not into threatening women.

Not I. There’s still something in her eyes that wants to kill me.

That actually IS a little more to my tastes.

But take a look at her with a more relaxed expression. That’s “attractive,” “sexy,” “appealing” or any other positive adjective you want to apply.

Not my preferred gender, but even if she were… not at all.

She’s no Simon Helberg.

Yes, attractive and friendly.

Yep. Indeed compare it to this iconic (at least in the UK) photo of Hindley, it’s almost like the OP’s photo is intentionally referencing it. And if you don’t know who Hindley is here’s the very depressing details. From what I gather, she holds the role in British culture that Manson held in American culture.

Since you ask: I thing the rouge goes to far back to be sexy. It looks like a mask, not like she’s blushed. And the makeup and pose emphasizes the whites of her eyes, rather than making her pupils look large.

Only in the sense that her pose is submissive. With her head tilted another way, she might appear to be just the opposite.

So tying into the intent of the thread, a head-tilt can be construed as sexy body language because its submissive?

Interesting. The biological component also may be conflated with a learned one. Just now when i tilted my head to get some kind of idea of “Does this feel submissive, or sexy”…I instinctively wanted to lower my glasses.

Now there’s a definite sexual body language move. Tilting your head down and lowering your glasses says, “I see you and I’m trying to get a better look.”
