Is Trump confused?

On the flip side, Trump was over two hours late to his rally in Grand Rapids, which didn’t even start until after midnight. Finally wrapped up after 2am.

Hoping many of the attendees will be too tired to vote today.

If that was all he did I’d be okay with that.

Too bad he didn’t leave them all stranded 5 miles from the parking lot.

See, that is a perfect example of a double standard- if Biden had said that, that would be tossed around as proof he is senile and has to drop out. Here it is just one doddering insane comment after another.

When, exactly is the election over? What with challenges and recounts, it can take a while before it is official. It used to be March, iirc when the new president took office.

I concur.

When MAGA points to Biden’s gaffes it isn’t out of a genuine concern that our leader might be senile. They’re just trying to score points and the prizes are sweet, sweet liberal tears. They don’t care about double standards because they’re not playing the same game the rest of us are. Like most facist, they expect the rules to be used against their opponents while they themselves do not have to follow them.

That’s the thing. With Biden it would have been a gaffe in the middle of a fairly solid speech outlining a vision and some policy statements. OH MY GOD WHAT DID HE JUST SAY!!??

With Trump, its a minor blip amidst a stream of insane lies, discussion of golfer’s penis size and a bunch of rambling stories that go nowhere. MEH, NOT A BIG DEAL THAT HE DOES NOT KNOW WHERE HE IS.

According to Trump last night, it’s over at midnight, as long as he’s ahead. To hell with counting all the votes.

He’ll be ahead in the popular vote until all of the votes from California come in some time tomorrow.

Just for example, in Westminster-style systems parliament is dissolved at the beginning of the election campaign. The executive part of the government continues function in a caretaking role until the new parliament is sworn in, typically 6-8 weeks later or so, but it cannot pass any legislation.

I do understand the history of why it’s set up that way in the US, but allowing politicians who have been voted out of office to pass new legislation is utterly bonkers.

Officially, it’s “over” on January 6, when the electoral college votes are formally tabulated in Congress.

Yes, but

See- starting a new administration on say- Nov 6th- wouldnt work.

I agree that the lead up time/lame duck period in the USA is too long, however.

Agreed. It’s, in part, an artifact of longer travel times in the 18th and 19th century, I’m sure. And, these days, a certain amount of time for legal challenges is also needed, I suppose.

Every responsible news outlet (thinking of television and perhaps the most-visited sites) should prominently display a list of What We Know in Advance that Trump Will Do:

…and probably several more that haven’t occurred to me.

I thought it was the existence of Harris votes that proves RIGGING and FRAUD.

I do not have a strong opinion on this. But just to point out, it is used to be longer in the U.S., and still is longer in Taiwan and Mexico.

If Trump wins, we’ll wish it was much longer.

For what it is worth, I am sure that if Nikki Haley had ever offered serious competition to Trump in the primaries, she also would have been accused of this.

Yeah, both of those.

Among the twisted blessings of this day of horror: at least we won’t have to hear the Fraud and Stolen and Rigged litany again.

I wish you were right about that, but I suspect you won’t be

Already going on.

All things considered, I’d rather listen to him bitch about the election being stolen for the next four years than the reality.
