Is Trump confused?

Yeah, he only lied about who was there and what was said. It’s true that helicopters exist, though.

At this point just the sheer number of times people have said “this may not be evidence of decline” is starting to look like evidence of decline.

It isn’t like the easy believability of his baseline racist confusion is an endorsement.

Apologia if already posted. (Excerpt, link below.)

“Democrats are racing to remake Kamala Harris from real life Selina Meyer into the female Obama — and Donald Trump’s lack of discipline is letting them,” said a national Republican strategist who was granted anonymity to speak candidly. “Every day Trump swipes at shiny objects — attacking the popular governor of a swing state, questioning the race of his opponent, or battling cat lady comments by his VP — is a day he is letting Harris define herself on her own terms.”

I actually noticed in today’s Chicago Trib, they seemed to be a tad more blatant in pointing out misstatements. Almost a list of them. Instead of just generally saying, “He discussed x, y, and z.” It may be that the idea that Trump’s inability to express a coherent thought is gaining some traction.

Interesting article by Robert Reich

When I’ve asked members of the media, they say Trump’s malfunctioning brain is “old news.”

But just because Trump has shown mental instability in the past doesn’t make his mental problems any less relevant now. They’re more relevant. He appears even more delusional than before.

If Biden’s difficulties were fair game, why isn’t Trump’s apparent mental decline front and center?

The growing evidence of Trump’s dementia and paranoia poses a clear potential danger to the future of America — if he’s reelected.

At the least, the media should be investigating and reporting on it. Right?

Why isn’t the media reporting on Trump’s increasing dementia? | Opinion (msn.com)

Raw Story is not exactly a non- biased source, but…

As the report states, at a recent donor dinner the former president met questions about what is in store now that Trump is facing a surging Harris only to be met with him telling them, "We’ve got to stop the steal,” to the dismay of some of his advisers.

In one instance, one longtime donor asked “how Mr. Trump planned to take the narrative back from Democrats, and what his positive vision for the country would be” which only led to the former president lashing out at his opponent and then adding, "I am who I am”.

I’d like to believe that the mainstream media is unbiased, but the world isn’t perfect - the way in which media typically associated with “liberal” ideas is better than the other side is that they report facts, not falsehoods. That still leaves a bit of room for bias, though, and although it is much less egregious on the left, it does exist.

I speculate that during Biden’s candidacy, an unconscious bias may have come into play with the underreporting of Trump’s incoherence/delusions. To wit: “It’s dangerous if we zero in too much on Trump’s inchoate blathering, because while Biden is a lot better, he does have weaknesses, and the more we PALAT (point and laugh at Trump), the more we open up the discussion to, ‘But look what a doddering old man Biden is.’”

I’m not saying this was a deliberate calculation on the part of any striving-for-impartiality news medium. But I think it is possible that at least sometimes it influenced the short-of-brutal coverage Trump’s meanderings received.

Now, with a coherent and obviously intelligent opposition to Trump, it is safe to point out his pompous nonsense without fear of it backfiring.

The answer to your question is that he doesn’t have dementia.

However, I buy that his paranoia is getting worse.

P.S. I cannot find a good transcript of Trump’s Thursday press conference with questions and answers. Has anyone come across it?

It’s not my question, it’s Robert Reich’s question in his opinion column. Just to be clear.

On MSNBC, Lawrence O’Donnell did a long diatribe about why all the news networks carried Trump’s unhinged “news conference” live, doing no fact-checking along the way and none of the reporters challenging him or asking any difficult questions. He criticized the news media for being so non-assertive in the face of such rampant lying. He asked “Are they afraid of Trump?” More likely they are afraid of his legion of unhinged followers, who think nothing of making threats to kill or injure anyone (and their families) who dares to defy their Orange Jesus.

I swear, if he pulled out of the race, it wouldn’t surprise me.
Crazy things keep happening.

President Vance is a gruesome thought.

He can’t pull out because the alternative is prison and the destruction of Trump’s empire. Donald is either going to be elected president or he’s going to crash spectacularly.

I was assured that the Constitution clearly forbids a Presidential candidate from dropping out of the race and being replace by their chosen Vice President by Donald J Trump

Well, i am Not a Real Doctor (nor do i play one on TV), but he does seems to be slipping a bit- no, a lot more than a bit. So I wont claim I can state he has dementia. but his mental state is, well, suspect.

He’s constitutionally incapable of doing so. He’ll march to the podium with five ties on and no shoes while declaring that he’s the most mentally sound person in history and that if he were president the Spaniards would never have colonized Bermuda.

I don’t know if this has been posted, but it looks like Trump may have got his African-Americans mixed up in recounting his harrowing helicopter experience from decades ago.

Former California state senator Nate Holden said that he was the Black man in a helicopter with former President Trump, refuting Trump’s claims that it was Willie Brown, in an interview with Politico.

“Willie is the short Black guy living in San Francisco,” Holden told Politico. “I’m a tall Black guy living in Los Angeles.”

“I guess we all look alike,” Holden added.
