Kalt, are you saying that Christians as a group aren’t doing any wrong in the world now? Ever heard of a place called Bosnia? Can any one tell Kalt here of more places in the world RIGHT NOW Christians are causing trouble?
Roger that x-ray:
And for the irony loving out there:
George Habash, Greek Orthodox member of the PLO.
Got any objective, verifiable, scientific proof of that?
Now you’re just nitpicking over terms, vis a vis “tolerated” by the government vs. “produced” by the government.
It doesn’t matter who “produced” the program, since only the authoriitarian government controls what is actually showed on tv.
BTW, what would you say if FoxNews aired the “Protocols” this weekend?
Um ya, just read my peer-reviewed paper confirming the existence of God…
I was speaking in the sense that religion’s grip on the general populace hasn’t seemed to have faltered. Many people still believe in God and probably will for the foreseeable future. Religion seems to be hard-hired into the human consciousness, science and logic require a little more work.
We’re never going to win this “war on terrorism” if we’re too politically correct to aknowledge who the enemy is. It’s dark-skinned, bearded muslim men. And sorry, I don’t mean to sound sexist, but that’s just the way it is. Step one in the “war on terror” is recognizing this. Step two is getting rid of the enemy. And don’t tell me “timothy mcveigh doesn’t fit that profile.” Trust me, one of these days we’ll find out that it was dark-skinned, muslim men who somehow convinced Timmy Mac to blow up the building in OK City. That’s probably a confirmed fact within certain governmental circuits, they just don’t want to release that information to “inflame” the mooslims.
just a side note. Do you hate “NAMBLA”? I do… even though not “every” member of NAMBLA is a pedophile child rapist.
How is islam any different from nambla?
Well, if any news organization in the U.S. would do that, it would be Fox.
“Dark-skinned”?
Ahmed Alnami, one of the hijackers on United Airlines Flight 93. Could be in a boy-band (except for having incinerated himself and all). I guess he looks vaguely Latino, in a very European sort of way. And have we forgotten John Walker Lindh?
Not only is the “dark-skinned” bit racist, it’s tactically stupid. If we assume that all Islamic terrorists are “dark-skinned”, I guarantee that’s an assumption that will turn around and bite us, hard. Anybody can convert to Islam, of any “race”, and furthermore the skin colors and physical types found in traditionally Muslim areas are all over the map–radicalized Bosnians or Chechens, Pakistanis, North Africans, other Africans, Malays, the list goes on; and of course “Arabs” are a hugely heterogeneous group in American “racial” terms. And if we start looking exclusively at “dark-skinned” suspects, Al-Qaida are damned well cunning enough to send in Western converts from Southern California or England, or light-skinned Arabs who’ve dyed their hair blond.
“Dark-skinned.” :smack: I can only hope that the government isn’t making any such nonsensical assumptions about the skin tone of potential terrorist attackers.
As a Roman Catholic I am used to hearing about the poor treatment of women by the hierarchy of my faith. Compare to the Islam.
- Women saints and veneration of the Blessed Mother
- Holy orders headed by women.
Them:
- Stone to death rape victims
- Female circumcision
- Only men can file for divorce
- Men can pay a sinless visit prostitutes in Iran
Islam certainly is about violence to women.
Your position is more akin to the bigots who equate all gays with child molesters (and claim, by analogy, that gays who aren’t pedophiles and have no desire to be child molesters aren’t “true” homosexuals).
I am confused. Is there a rule against hate speech in the SDMB?

Christians:
- Exicutes (beheads, stone, burn, or whatever) women for being “witches” (even goes on today).
- Female circumcision
- Mass wave of Preists who molest children (Not just the RCC).
- Impiment child salvary (Sex slaves or whatever).
- Etc.
Can’t believe I missed that one. Hell, my dad has a beard.
Mohammed Atta, the very face of 9/11: no beard. (And not really very dark-skinned either. Furthermore, in real life, I doubt he actually looked like Satan himself; that was some official I.D. photo. In real life, you probably wouldn’t have looked at him twice.)
From this page, you can link to photos of all 19 of the September 11 hijackers. There are maybe five mustaches among them; one really scraggly goatee, another slightly less peach-fuzzy one; most of them were clean-shaven, and none of them had a full, flowing beard.
There is certainly a rule against being a jerk.
Please show me a burning of a witch in the last 300 years. Molester Priest’s are not sanctioned or encourged by the church. Female circumcision is unknow in modern christanity.
Where did you come up with the sex slave crap. That is common in and accepted in islam but nowhere supported by chrisitans.
I’m not a thumper. You compare ancient christianity to modern islam (on some points).
The molester priests are a blot on Catholism that irks all good Catholics. I don’t drop money in the basket for it to go to settlements based on past church cover ups.
Of course in Islam child rape is allowed, if the child reports it they face death. We can openly discuss the failures of our leaders. In Islam that would be a great way to get flogged or worse.
By the way, gay bashing ministers that have a church whose congration is entierly made up of thier own families don’t count as christians.
I am also confused. I was under the impression that there definitely was such a rule.
Well, I agree no true Scotsman would drink anything other than single-malt Scotch with his haggis, but we must concede that there are people who were born and live in Edinburgh and whose ancestors were Celts who immigrated from Ireland in the 5th Century C.E. who don’t even like haggis.
I am absolutely speechless. This reasoning only works one way, of course, right? A member of a religion you don’t like couldn’t say, for instance, “People who commit terrorism don’t count as Muslims” because that would be fallacious, right?
This is such a waste of time. Kalt, The Font of all Wisdom, why don’t you just say what you mean, that we should just have the mother of all wars with the Islamic world and whoever’s left standing at the end gets to claim they were right all along?
