That’s the dipshit who wrote the article, yes. I know of him chiefly as one of the nutjobs who tries to blame school shootings (and cop killings, and any other violence he doesn’t personally approve of, apparently) on video games. It sounds like he’s found another vein of paranoia to leech on.

I think sh1bu1 was referring to the other dipshit, the officer who spammed out a mail with Grossman’s column pasted into it. That guy is presumably still in the military.

Well, that was amusing, in an admittedly sick way. I was particularly taken with the author calling his column “The Bullet Proof Mind”. Er, quite.

What. The. Fuck. And not for the reason you’d think; I’d just assumed it was some random idiot and hadn’t noticed it was by Grossman til you pointed it out. Killology isn’t as April fool’s as you’d think; Grossman wrote On Killing: The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Society which was an insightful book although I didn’t wholly agree with some of his conclusions. It’s amazing that the same man wrote both.

As evidence of this ludicrously far-fetched theory, he cites the Indian rebellion of 1857, an event which was not really about Islam, did not take place on a single day, and was notoriously uncoordinated. He also references some story from the bible.

I haven’t looked it up, but that was before Pakistan and Bengal split off, so it may have been more Muslim than it is now, but your larger point is true. India was a mixed-bag of religions and the uprising had everything to do with independence from Britain and nothing to do with Islam. Many (most?) of those rebelling would have been Hindi.

Well, I bet there were more Muslims in India then there are in the Bible, anyways.

If you want further evidence confirming what Col. Grossman is saying, look no further than Japan in WWII. What kept them from invading our mainland was the fear that everyone was armed and success would be impossible.

The Indian rebellion of 1857? Is he referring to the nation of India or the Native Americans here in America? Because either way it makes zero sense. I’m really sleep deprived but isn’t India mostly Hindu?

Yeah well, don’t quote me on this but I’m reasonably sure the closest the Bible comes to having Muslims in it is the history of Abraham’s two sons (an obsolete term to refer to Arabs is “Ismaelite”, as in “the children of Ismael”).

It’s the Indian Rebellion of 1857 against the rule of the East India Company in India. Both Hindus and Muslims took part in the revolt.

And at that, wasn’t it triggered by a specific new East India Company policy that insulted Hindus? Or am I thinking of a different rebellion?

Anyway, it’s obviously not like facts matter to these people, so really there’s not much point in asking.
