ISP Speed Test (L.A. Edition)

People use still cable for broadband or TV? Blech…

One of the first things I did when we bought the house was disconnect Comcrap’s cable at the demarc. Around here, calling their service “sporadic” would be a compliment.

AuntiePam - yes, very reasonable. Very nice, actually. You must be just a few blocks from the central office or a remote terminal.

I am – it’s about six blocks from me.

That’s good to know!

I’m paying $26 (down from $40, and installation was free) a month, and the provider is Woolstock Mutual Telephone Company (wmtel).

Comcast something or other digital.
No clue what the breakdown is (I just got it a few days ago and haven’t gotten the first bill yet), but it plus on-demand digital cable with HBO and Showtime is like $85 or $90.

We live in the DC area and just switched from Comcast to RCN, because they promised us a much better deal cable TV-wise plus faster internet. With Comcast I think I was topping out at about 7000 down and maybe 1000 up so this is definitely much better.

Hm, from the numbers it looks like ADSL is the way to go. Either that, or move LA to Japan.

Wait, on second thought, that would probably be a REALLY bad idea.
