I view this thread (or any others that may follow) as a way for Dopers to find the best value for their ISP dollar, so I’m not sure if testing results from your work will be useful, but hey… whatever floats your boat.
The idea is that the thread would be a tool for people to shop around for ISP services using real actual speeds (rather than advertising “promises”). So if Korea Telecom looked like a really value, it’s really not an option for folks around here.
I was kind of envisioning the idea (if popular) would spawn other local-oriented threads, i.e. Seoul Edition, Chicago Edition, Atlanta Edition, etc.
But maybe the local-specific premise is flawed. I guess we’ll see how/if it develops.
Where I live it is much more reliable than the local cable. I wish I could use cable or FIOS but the cable here sucks and I don’t know if we will ever get FIOS.
Not relevant to LA, but interesting nonetheless. Maybe the Japanese know how to do DSL better or something, because I got 21437/1024 using DSL. Or maybe it’s ADSL. I’m also not sure how much I pay each month because while I think the bill is only $13, I also need to factor the fact that I have to pay for my landline to have it, which is possibly somewhere around $40. Hell, I don’t know, the bills are in Japanese and I just pay 'em. Almost everything is direct withdrawal anyway.
