What I meant, Fenris, was that Naxox here might be an anti-Semite, but it’s irrelevant. Predominantly, I see a kid who knows nothing about the world outside his own little realm of existence, and is quick to condemn all which he doesn’t know or understand. While that might be anti-Semitism, it’s predominantly ignorance. But the main point was, that this is not stereotypical of anti-Semitism as I know it, at least. Most anti-Semites I encounter (usually on TV, luckily) seem to have their story at the ready, with answers to the questions they’re asked. That is also what makes them scary: no matter how wrong or repulsive their information is, if they present it in a coherent manner, they might just persuade someone to believe them.
Naxox stands no such chance, as is evidenced by this thread. Granted, the SDMB denizens are a tad smarter than average, but I’d bet that no one would estimate Naxox for more than he really is: a raving loon.
I think that this is where we disagree or where our experiences differ greatly. I’d say that the majority of anti-Semites aren’t the articulate, quick-witted “professionals” (for lack of a better word) that you describe. The ones I’ve encountered are much more often the much less < cough > thoughful bigots: the ones who, when they don’t make a good bargain talk about how they’ve been “jewed down” or about how “Jews control the media”, etc. They don’t work out exactly why they hate, but hate they do.
It’s the difference between the Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan and Archie Bunker: one’s a professional bigot, but both are bigots.
