It’s here And a pretty popular behind too.
To paraphrase a famous Jewish philosopher:
Israel would not consent to joining any supranational government body that would offer member-state status to a country like Israel.
I think That **Maalox’s **insistance that Egypt is not in Africa proves that he must be American, not European.
ok, ok…the maalox crack was a cheap shot. I admit it.
Which sounds like: “Please accept my resignation. I don’t care to belong to any club that will have me as a member” -Groucho Marx
<< whoosh! >>
danceswithcats… I think that was the exact quote bizwire was getting at seeing how Groucho Marx was Jewish…
Hmmm…I always thought he was a communist.
Well, I thought You guys knew something about georaphy.
You do not.
The Norvegian guy has been right on every point about geo.
These are things we learned in school when we were 10 years old. I think it goes for the most of the Europeans anyhow.
West-Indian Islands is maybe a separate continent, as someone wanted to say.
So if we make the olympic circles like this: America, Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, Middle East and The West-Indian Islands.
maybe Indiana also as well, it also sounds like something far away from everywhere.
OK 7 or 8 circles, who cares. So designers and logo-makers jump at Your work. The mutual brains about new geo has spoken in the SDMB!
USA put some pressure, quite heavy according to some European papers, about that Turkey should be considered as a future member.
Then do not meddle with the Norwegian guy about the grammar. he and I have learned the lingua because of the English culture, and the Englishmen are gentlemen, they do not meddle with Your grammar either, do they? (Is meddle a word? OK, now it is.)
As long as I have a vote in EU, no country that does not know its boarders will ever get my vote. Not Palestine, whenever that is reckoned as a country, nor Israel.
Some jerk begun to count West-bank and Gaza also to the Israeli population, so it is obvious that the boarders are not very clear.
And Turkey is a bad country. Look at any watch or human rights what so ever.
If we Europeans wanted wars inside Eu, we can fix it by our self. We have some thousand year tradition in this field.
The strange part is, that some EU-guys wants expand even taking Russia as a pre-pre-pre-member.
Fuck them, then I have to emigrate to China!
I’d say somebody’s drunk.
It’s in the United States, Henry, in the middle. Zoom out all the way. See the big red star? Indiana. It’s a state, one of the 50 United States.
Duck Duck
Are You serious?
Do You not see that I was joking about Indiana.
Just the west-Indian Islands was so funny.
And if You ment me, for Your eyes only: I do not even drink the lightest beer. I do not use anything harder than coffee.
Henry
Another joke, Henry B? It sure had me rolling on the floor.
Sorry, Henry, you just sounded a lot more incoherent than usual.
A lot.
Sigh.
So much ignorance, so little time. . .
Although this one seems to have mixed in hatred with his overwelming ignorance.
Why is that an ignorant statement, elf6x? Are you denying that there is a pro-Israel lobby (made up in a large part by Jews) who will pour money into an election campaign in an attempt to remove any politician with an overt pro-Palestinian/anti-Israel tilt?
I mean, it’s not some shadowy cabal, but it’s just as influential as the Cuban ex-pats in determining some foreign policy aspects.
I dunno, Neurotik, “manipulate” does suggest “some shadowy cabal” to me.
http://www.opensecrets.org/lobbyists/lookup.asp?firm=y&client=y&lobbyist=y&txtName=jewish&B1=OK
nope no Jewish lobby there is a lobbying group for Hispanics, African Americans
homosexuals, candy makers, golfers, gardeners and a hundreds of other groups but nope the Jewish people have none

AIPAC’s strong showing in the Fortune “Power 25” adds to the multiple accolades the organization has received this year from the media. In April, the New York Times featured an extensive article on AIPAC’s clout, calling AIPAC the most important Jewish organization affecting America’s relationship with Israel. Last month, an independent study funded by the Aspen Institute’s Nonprofit Sector Research Fund cited AIPAC, by a margin of more than 2 to 1, as the nonprofit organization most effective in working toward foreign aid funding. The study used polling methods very similar to those of FORTUNE.
With multiple media outlets lauding its work and its influence, AIPAC has truly experienced a banner year in terms of public recognition.
Just to make sure everyone understand:
It is New Years Evening here, some 4 hours later the year will change. And I am still sober, and will remain so.
Anyhow:
The next lines I just write out of my memory:
The EU-parliment is in Bruexelles and the other organs in different European countries, but the central banking organ is in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
The European monetary black hole is in Germany.
Eg. Finland should grow corn at the same price as France etc. If You think Texas and Canada at the same time You get the idea.
And we can’t change it (withouth the help of Germany and its votes and its lashed allies). And they will not help Finland in this question, but guess are we also lashed!
Our fucking Finnish politicians says that we are an independent state within EU.
Total bullshit.
We can’t even pee without checking with Bruesseles. And our politicians, when people want to have changes, tells us “that according to EU we can’t do this or that”… etc.
Now the risk is that EU expands too fast, and the outern (new) states begins to think by they own, and does not understand the difference between propaganda for the people and the political no-no’s!
But EU is not so stupid that it begins to expand toward centres of war or crisis. I mean here Palestine and Israel.
I have not followed so very keenly on the subject after working for EU in 2,5 year, but I think former Yugoslavia is not on the EU top priority list, because of the some hundred year crises there.
Shortly EU wants to be like US, but just on another continent.
And it will not only be the European continent, let’s say within next 20 - 30 years.
To join EU Your country needs to have:
They would gladly take Tunisia to EU, if it would be a little bit more “European” in it’s behaviour. (However, this is just an example). It is quite European. Just like eg. Italy, taking bribes on what-ever governmental level etc. (Not sure if it hires hit-men as the former prime minister in Italy?). Anyhow the limit is flexible and adjustable. You see how nice we are, do You not?
Well, now You think I have gone more nuts than usual?
Maybe.
The fact is that when Reagan said Gadaffi is a bad guy and should be boycotted, Libyan oil should not make the country rich etc., Reagan making a little bit of bombing, etc., all traders, including me, begun to get faxes from Tunisia about that they wanted to buy building-material etc. in huge quantities.
I thought that someone was just joking, but the Tunisian government was very fast the biggest trading company that I knew.
Yes, every top politician in Tunisia had a company that was runned by the smaller officials. Nice system; finally a government got some practical work done!
Everything that Gaddafi needed was traded through Tunisia.
Tunisia, the gates to the Libyan oil, the most needed product in EU.
When Frankfurt am Main decides that we love Tunisia, we will.
With passion. We believe everything they say.
Another thing: If Saddam would live in Angola, do You think EU-countries would give a shit about USA bombing it back to stone-age?
Of course not. But Iraq is to near, near our contracts and beside it has the most wanted product. Would it not be a pity to bomb it?
Now You think: “Well, here we go again; a new oil-theory…”
And Russia has together with China very big oil-contracts with Saddam. “Well, here we go again; a new oil-theory…”
Think what You want, but I state in my earnest:
1) EU is a very expansive alliance. (Promising money and prosperity to everyone that joins, [just let us rule in the curtains].)
2) It want an common army. (Just to keep the inside peace, maybe later other thoughts).
3) It is or soon will be, the biggest single competitor to USA.
Not today, not tomorrow, but look how the blocks are rebuilt and think 30 years. If You think that it will not happen with blocks, think 30 years back.
And rethink; “What is possible and what is not, or have the history come to an end and we can think that the final history will be written in just a few years and then begins the Status Quo Forever-period in human history?”
4) If it can stabilize the trade with Russia and make it to a member of this block, it will just be a question of time until… (fill in here what You might think). Anyhow when that happens, EU will have access to raw-material more than the rest of the world together. And an ejucalation of never-ending joy. Joy of incoming power.
5) It will make everything the next 5 years or so, to get EURO as the only currency in as many countries as possible. Later as the number 1 currency in the world. Later.
Conclusions:
So, if we want to have EU prosperous, we should help it to expand only toward stabile countries. That Tunisia is less democratic than Israel, does not count, it’s the stabil income and resources that counts.
Then we (EU) can say: “See how nice guys we are, we help all countries near us, to join us. The only thing we demand is that they are just as nice as we are, not abusing the Human Rights, etc. etc.” Propaganistic bullshit, but we will swallow it all.
We always do.
If we want to stop EU from doing things too easy, we (USA?) should push some tons of dynimite in its lap, in this case democratic Israel. And then we (USA?) tell everyone: “See, we are not jealous about our allies, we are just happy when they find each other.”
The only very sure thing is that people will buy this or that propaganda. Depends who is feeding and what is fed.
My personal dilemma is that I do not want EU to expand nor being destroyed. Most likely, if it will be destroyed, it will be destroyed from inside.
So dear all.
This does not mean that USA should bomb anything without a bad conciense. In Iraq, which is already on it’s knees, the disaster among the civilians will be immense. But that is another story, just wanted to point out that EU also has its realpolitik.
Just wait and see.
Just about the next year: Many that sees fireworks, around the world tonight, will see even more pyrotechnics during the year. And for many of these people, it will be the last thing they see.
Sorry that I have no time to check the spelling. My guests just arrived.
Happy New Year to You all!
The USA does not run the EU, Henry.
Happy New Year to you, too!
Good grief, Henry. That last post of yours was supposed to show us that you don’t hold a bunch of flat out incorrect prejudices?
It did the exact opposite.
