How many settlements and Israelis are there in “palestinian” lands
Why are they there? Surely there must be lots of empty land in Israel.
Do they own the land or just squatting?
Do the Israeli government officially now regard the settlements as Israeli territory?

There was an interview with some settlers on PBS last night. (I think it was NOW) They interviewed a jewish couple, whos child had been shot in the head (he lived), and asked why they stay in the settlements. They replied that God had given them these lands and they would never leave. You can see how this would be a roadblock on the road to peace.
thanks labboy, a great link. After reading this (and lots of others) I am afraid I have no sympathy for Israel left, and little confidence for peace.

Is “this” the shooting in the head of an innocent baby or the choice of Jews to live here?
