If they oppose it, I will lay money they will pass a clean debt ceiling increase at literally the eleventh hour, with few spending cuts. Anyway you look at it, the Republicans lose.

About half and half. Obama’s actions sure look like he wants the economy to collapse. But I am having difficulty believing that even he wants something that stupid and disastrous to happen just so he can benefit politically.

But how can he “come galloping to the rescue with more big government spending” if the Republicans control the House, which controls the purse strings? Your premise makes no sense.

Given what I posted above (Obama offering substantial spending cuts) how do you grok that he is angling for a collapsed economy? It is the republicans who are denying any hope for a resolution. Not Obama. (To be clear I think Obama sucks for capitulating as much as he has…he has rolled over time and again to republican demands and this time seems no different…the Capitulator-in-Chief).
