I’m not sure how to recreate it (it may have been disabled) but a few months ago at least it was possible to go into Google Maps and get walking directions from the Shire to Mordor, and the usual cautionary note read “Walking directions are in beta. Use caution – one does not simply walk into Mordor.”
I’ve seen that- very cute!
It only goes up to 10 now, but I see people talking about it in the comments/forum section at the bottom.
ETA scratch that. I just checked in Chrome and, while there are 10 stars, it’s listed at 8.0/11. I don’t think it’s a browser thing though. On this browser I’m logged in and have it set to classic view and on Chrome I’m not.
Still goes to 11 for me.
It depends on your view settings. I have it set to classic view for IMDB and did not see it. Set it to the more recent view and you can.
Cool! I didn’t know you COULD set your account for classic view! This is the best news I’ve had in days.
That’s the reason I have an account there. I set it up when they changed the way it looks.
Google “Do a barrel roll” Fun, even if you don’t get the reference
Youtube “do the Harlem Shake”
The BBC iPlayer volume control (and the regular website video player control) goes up to 11, and has done for years. It’s one louder, you see.
Dude, I have had it to classic mode since…well, forever. I feel bad that you did not know this!
I didn’t know there was a New IMDB. I’ve only had the Original, it seems.

I just tried it, it still works. But you have to use “The Shire” in the directions, with the article.
And curiously enough, Mordor is located in Philadelphia.
