I told you, about two weeks ago or so, about a friend of mine who lost her brother.
Well, it seems that when it rains, it pours.
My friend’s house burned. At least no one was injured, but it means that most of the pictures of her late brother are gone, maybe some of their Christmas presents. They’re also not very well off; not destitute, but this sure isn’t helping anything.
I just feel awful, there’s really nothing I can do but be here for her, but she’s out of town.
My friend is one of the sweetest people I know; she cares about everyone and isn’t rude, she’s respectful of other people. She’s a talented actress…just…I wish the real world would be a bit kinder to some people.
If I could, I’d shoulder these burdens for her, but I can’t do a damned thing.
What a merry Christmas indeed.
Aww, {{{{nocturn’s friend}}}}
That’s really bad. Last year, one of my best friend’s brother & sister in laws house burned down on Christmas eve. They had gone to sleep with a candle burning…They were unharmed, but they lost the house, everything in it, and two cats. That sort of thing shouldn’t happen to anyone.
Fifteen years ago, I lost everything I owned in an arson fire, including my dog & my pick-up truck. The hardest thing to lose was the dog; then all the photos I had.
There’s nothing really comforting to say to someone who is going through this sort of crap. Just continue being her friend.
About 10 years ago my sister’s best friends brother and 3 of his friend went partying on the 21st - stinking drunk, zooming around.
They hit the el where it rises from the ground in Rockaway.
Try visiting someone sitting in the funeral parlor for her 19 y.o. brother on Christmas Eve.
Good luck, Michael, wherever you are.
