Give Flash a scritch on the ribs for me until his leg starts doing that scratching in the air motion.

But on a more somber note, when your wife returns, you might have the discussion about what either of you should do when you have to make that final decision. Do you wait until someone comes home, or go ahead? Do you want wait to bury Flash together, etc.
