Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 89 and sunny. I foresee quality cee-mint pond time on such a nice day. Of course there will be other RDOS inactivities such as nappage and day drinkin’. Sup will be sketties, sallit, and cheesey garlic bread. The meat sauce will simmer away in the slow cooker all day. YUM!
So, here it is the MMP. I look forward to readin’ about laundry, bin reports, what’s to eat, and all the rest of the fascinatin’ stuff we mumpers engage in each week. Hijack away!
Weatherwise, we have an atypically coolish week ahead - huzzah!! I have an appointment with my neurologist tomorrow, but no plans for today, tho I should go grocery shopping. Whatever happens, happens.
It’s a public holiday here in the UK and it’s currently 23 degrees
centigrade/Celsius (which is about x degrees Farenheit).
Maybe some rain later in the week - we need it.
Mornin’ all - about 0830 as I start drivelin’. I stayed out kinda late, so slept in a bit past sunrise. Which is now getting later every day at a pretty good clip. Anyhow, bright sunny day, puffies everywhere that will grow up to be afternoon rainshowers, and presently 80/27 on the way to 95/35.
GF was successfully launched over to Barcelona overnight. After a ~45 minute delay leaving the gate for whatever silly reason. The trip was originally supposed to be 6 women. Come to find out along the way the three easy-going ones dropped out. Leaving GF in her cabin alone and the two high strung, grossly spoiled, and irrationally demanding ones sharing another cabin. I suspect GF won’t have a great time with them lacking the buffer of the missing women, but that will work to my advantage when she gets home frazzled and then a couple weeks later she spends a week-plus with easy-going me.
Last night was at one of my favorite scruffy music venues. Three 50ish women who individually work as lead singers with their own backup combos or as part of larger ensemble groups around town also have a gig where it’s just them, plus recoded instrumentals. They dress up 1960s gogo style and do all the “girl group” songs from do-wop through motown & disco plus a couple of current girl-tunes. I’d heard all three fronting their own groups before but had never heard them this way. Very good; they’re all decent singers and good showmen/showbabes. Great group name too: The Florida Sweet Tarts | Facebook.
Planning a day of early beach followed by RDOS and perhaps mini groc run & car wash.
I’ve read all of the last couple days & this morning. Good luck to the afflicted and congrats to the folks with triumphs. And especial congrats to VanGo for a successful dogquisition. Go Peaches!
The sun has not yet risen, and it’s 62°F with mostly clear skies. The extreme heat warning remains in effect, with a predicted high of 92°F, and partly cloudy skies. The skies have been hazy and a little smoky due to the wildfires out here. It hasn’t been as bad as past years, though. They’ve extended the heat warning through Wednesday now, and along with that comes the potential for some rain and lightning strikes in the Cascades. Lightning strikes are never good this time of year.
My middle sister was a road trip barfer, and so was my daughter. I was fine as a kid, but I’ve discovered that as I become older, riding in the backseat on windy roads makes me a little queasy.
My nights have been restless, once again. I keep waking up on the hour, and when I look at my Fitbit for the time, the hour ends in 43. Such a strange time. Every single hour from midnight on. I’ve given up these last couple of mornings and got up at 4:43 a.m.
I didn’t get to the laundry yesterday, so it’ll have to happen today. I don’t have anything else planned other than an errand or two. Neither of the errands are particularly pressing, so they may not happen either.
Yesterday, I putzed in the yard and tidied things up inside here and there. But mostly I read or watched TV under the fan in the great room. So, not a productive day, but they can’t all be filled with stuff.
Okay, time for more coffee. Please take care of yourselves.
Ate a big turkey dinner and all 4 of the mini croissants last night, and slept hard. Woke up thinking it was my Blessed Day Off, until I got up to potty and my brain booted up. Literally out loud, seated on the throne, “Dammit!” (I work open → close today.)
So imma go back to bed for awhile.
At least it’s been cool at night here. I know a fair chunk of y’all are dealing with hot temps. We had those here recently, and I do not miss them one bit.
Happy Monday, everyone! I could have started a new MMP about half an hour before Swampy did, but there was way too much blood in my caffeine system to think up a good one. 0913 now, so it will be morning soon, and I’m more awake (but not more woke!) – but I think I could still go back to sleep if I closed my eyes.
Laundry? Yes, there’s a definite need to strip the bed, but before going any further I’ll have to see if Lady SCAdian’s last load is out of the dryer so I can move my last load out of the washer.
Bins? That’s tomorrow evening. I think recycling was last week, so it will be just the trash this week.
Eating? Had a granola bar kind of thing a bit ago, but haven’t had my coffee yet. Lunch will be a bowl of the new cereal, or maybe a couple of sausage biscuits. No idea what supper will be.
NWS says it’s 68F/20C and mostly cloudy, but a casual glance out the nearest window doesn’t reveal any clouds. Predicted high 81/27; tonight’s low 59/15. Can’t get over how many below-60 nights we’ve had this summer. (pjd’s 23 C is 73 F, by the way.)
Good morning all. Was up at 5:30am to micturate and then returned to slumberland until 7:30am. The usual Shopping and Sammich run will be made this morning and some gym time this afternoon (I neglected the weight training last week so need to push some iron around) and the evening will take care of itself. Weather will only get to 82F for a high and the next week looks similar, so the 90F days may be coming to an end (or just biding their time…).
doggio, thanks for the explanation yesterday on the Incarnate Word Fixation.
Have asked that myself on occasion…
Neat!
I have been told I snore, but I never hear myself…
As to Sunday’s burger discussion, I can recommend the Grand Tasty Double in Argentina McDonald’s.
Cevaise, never had a barfing episode that I can remember in a car. Hope kid is doing OK.
Litterbug!!!
Pilot, I’ll hopefully get to see Barcelona this coming Spring, I hear it is a beautiful place. And between you and boo fae (I can’t for the life of me remember which Mumper is into jazz and music (Sticky Buns?) ) I sure get some music appreciation.
Taters, my brother bought me a Fitbit for Xmas several years ago and I have never used it. Probably should get it out of it’s box and see if it’s still operational.
shoe, more sleep is always a good thing.
Herald, stay cool.
And need to get on with the rest of the Moanday morning internettin’; have a good week all.
Never actually barfed in the car, but I came close when on the way to Squadron (had to check out on convalescent leave before going home) after my gall bladder surgery. Told Lady SCAdian to pull over just in time.
in philly, the weather finally cleared up and the weekend was very nice. today the humidity is back up.
the exciting wildlife in south philly has moved on. just the usual seagulls, pigeons, and sparrows. there was a crow, just the one hanging out in the parking lot. goodness, it is pumpkin craziness everywhere. strangely the target hasn’t gone totally halloween yet. they still had back to school stuff. perhaps that will swap out in a week. most schools are starting this week or next.
today was the first day of the septa cut back. not too bad yet. i’m sure it will get worse when schools start and vacationers are back.
I can’t ride in the back seat without consequences. Always true; worse since surgery, which gave me formal vertigo attacks.
Two bins out. I forgot one last night, so I dragged it out at 6 AM.
Spouses have been relinquished, and friend and I spent several hours writing yesterday. Today holds writing and some errands. Should be a pleasant low-80s day with low humidity.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 28c/83f with no predicted change, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s fucking warmer than a popcorn fart. Fucking gross, man.” Sounds like it! And of course, mostly cloudy means it’s blazing sunshine instead.
Oopsie is the resident (and very talented) jazz singer, Sticky Buns has MusicMan
We had a fun day out, arrived at our accommodation and managed to bag an early check-in so we got changed and tidied up, then got an Uber to the festival venue. The set-up was slightly different this year as they had put a big marquee in the paved car park where the bands would play, left some of the same car park for seating and parking, then put the main car and caravan/camper parking on a gravelled area behind the football club building. The main building had the bar, seating, merchandise and other stalls, along with food so that worked quite well.
We saw some friends who were staying at the same place as us and they had decided to drive up there (it’s about 10 minutes from the hotel) so they said if we found them at the end of the night, they’d give us a ride back which was very kind of them.
The bands were running late after a couple of technical glitches so the headline act didn’t come off stage until after midnight. After finding our friends and then spending a while saying goodbye to everyone else, we eventually got back our room just before 1am. Checked out at midday, then I drove into the town so we could get some breakfast before heading home. The drive back wasn’t too bad, traffic on the M6 is notoriously bad at any time of day (and there are a couple of areas that are always slow) but we made it back in quite good time. The cats came out to see if it was us, or the catsitter, decided we weren’t important enough, and disappeared back to their snoozing spots.
I have unpacked stuff, put away Saturday’s laundry as it’s dry now, and checked the litter trays. It’s our bin collection tomorrow so I’ll need to haul the biiiig bin out to the kerb later this evening. Too early to do that now, it’ll wait until after dinner.
I slept in this morning and woke to gently rumbling thunder. Pretty dang good way to start the week. I’ve got the windows open and listening to the rain with occasional breaks to swap out loads of laundry. I’m meeting some family and friends for lunch and hopefully will have enough leftovers to cover dinner.
Herald happy cake day!
Cervaise that sounds miserable for all involved. Is something like Dramamine an option? I find the less drowsy formula works well.
Mornin’! A bit late to the Mump, had some stuff I had to take care of at the slaver camp (a.k.a. work) that needed my immediate attention, so I just spent a bunch of my company’s money (as is my job) on buying out discounted supplier overstock that also has the added benefit of being able to avoid the stupid tariffs. Win/win!
So, fully caffeinated at this point. Enjoying a cooler week this week as the heatwave has broken, which makes for more pleasant commutes and more comfortable sleep at nights. Currently 18°C (64° Americana), which is quite lovely.
The last time I got an MRI, they gave me ear-protection earmuffs to wear. That solved the “How do you scan a head that keeps twitching around?” problem, because with the muffs on, my head couldn’t move at all.
I have a routine appointment with my allergy doc today in Mishawaka. I dunno if that means we’ll hit the Coldstone Creamery again, so soon after a birthday bash. Eh, what the heck am I thinking? There’s never a bad time for ice cream, right?
