Off the road again in the MMP

Road trips can be fun. Or not. This past weekend was not, but I’m glad it’s over and life can get back to what passes for normal here. For those who don’t know, we drove from southern Merrylande to Ocala, Fl and back over the course of 3 days.

Happy Moanday!!

First!

I know the feeling. I actually unpacked the toiletries bag this mornin as i won’t need it again before at least Thursday. Not sure where I am this weekend yet, but iffn I’m home, it’ll be the first ome since the first half of July., then I’ll be away at least two in Sept, as well.

Rats. I’m second. Didn’t need an alarm clock this morning. Thunder woke me up. Rain is forecast all day. Unpacking is worse than packing. Takes me a week to unpack from a 2 week vacation. Glad you are back safe and sound, FCM.

Insomnia has claimed another victim. Glad you’re back safe and sound Mom. I just drank 2 small glasses of liquor and I’m gonna toddle back to bed and try to sleep for a couple hours. Roofers are coming this morning to begin re-roofing our house. Joy!

It’s too that hot, too that hot, too that hot…

Poor li’l Roxy had a fever this weekend - spiking occasionally at 102°, but her temp seems normal this morning. Daughter was going to take her to the Dr, but I suggested she just call and find out if it makes sense to take her in. Apart from not wanting to run around as usual, she seemed OK - she still ate and drank, but she wanted to be held a lot, which is odd for her. Not sure what they’ll do.

Meanwhile, we’ve got to go to MVA to get the fancy new drivers’ licenses that TSA will require starting next year. Mine is due for renewal and **FCD **is getting one just in case he has to fly to FL in short notice. So we’ll be leaving in about half an hour. Afterwards, I’ll be heading out for some groceries. Not sure what the rest of the day holds for me.

Morning all. I tend to do my traveling these days in one big bunch and then spend a couple weeks recovering. This year it was Boston-Halifax-Chicago-Denver-Rapid City over 20 days and got back home about 8 July. Except for 400-mile drives at Thanksgiving and Xmas up to see my brother, nothing else is planned.

Mooooommm, hope Roxy is feeling better today. And I need one of those fancy license too, or get used to carrying my passport when I travel.

If he has a passport that can be used instead of fancy new driver’s license. That’s what I’m planning on doing starting next year, at least until my current license expires.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienated, and brekkied, so no YAWN. ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for this afternoon and evenin’. We shall see. Today’s agenda includes cave spiffin’ which I have already started. Actually started last night as I dusted and vacuumed the guest room, study, and the hallway between the two as well as spiffed up the guest bath and dusted and vacuumed the dinin’ room. Go Me! I have dusted and vacuumed the master bedroom and livin’ room already today. Need to tackle the master bath and kitchen as well as mop all the areas that need to be mopped. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy’s sup as there are plenty for another meal.

Poor RoxStar! Glad she’s feelin’ a little better today.

Bumba are you sure you had enough likker to sleep through roofers?

OK, I suppose I should get back to defilthyfyin’ da cave. Or not.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

ETA: I have a fancy new DL, I reckon. If’n that means one with the little gold star then I do.

The RealID licenses need a lot more info than you’re old one. In order to get one you need to provide proof you’re a US Citizen, proof you were born (standing in front of them does not qualify. I’m guessing they think you coulda been hatched?), blood type, DNA sample, stool sample, etc.
I can now safely wear my watch w/o fear of losing it. I noticed last week, whilst I was away that the (silicone) band was breaking. This weekend, whilst I was away (again - a different away), one side broke. I put a big rubberband over my watch so that if the strap fully broke, at least I wouldn’t lose it. I grabbed (apparently part of) a new band at home this morning & just replaced one side of the strap but noticed the other side isn’t in great shape either. It’ll last for a while, at least until I can go home & remember where I stashed the extra spare bands that I bought.

Last time I did such a good job that I didn’t find it until I bought two more, so I’ve got lots of spare bands in the house…somewhere. :o

I had to get one of the fancy licenses last time I renewed. I think it took the passport, birth certificate, a bill with the address and my military ID to prove my identity. Shouldn’t ever have to do all that again.

Speaking of I need to renew my car registration.

Irking as usual. Not wanting to be here as usual. I didn’t sleep enough last night. Already Tahred.

Blurf

Catio under construction

Friday after work I fenced in one side (not shown). Saturday I drove down to Burlington for tracks for the sliding doors, made three trips to the hardware store for lumber and stuff, and put up two posts on the back and fenced the outside parts. Sunday I built the sliding doors and hung them (left side of photo), put up two posts and crossbeams on the deck side, and fenced the outer part (middle of photo). I need to make two more sliding doors and hang them, and fence the section next to the house.

Happy Moonday!

Another pretty day, the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, and the windows are open.
Probably have to close them later when the big mouths next door wake up.

We got home from the park early as Ripple was ready to go.
I don’t know what is up with him, he has fun but he doesn’t want to stay very long anymore.

First day of school for my son and he is already flipping out, not only over the amount of work that is due today, but because he has audio and video assignments to do as well. So we will be trying to figure out how to record a video on the computer. It looks like one of his classes will be using videos instead of typing to a message board. I know there is a way to do it, just never cared to do it, so don’t know how.

Today is going to be fun … NOT!
As shy as he is, it is going to be rough for him.

Johnny, your cat-tio looks terrific!

**Flyboy **- you’re a rather indulgent cat servant! I’m sure they won’t appreciate the effort, but I think it’s looking good!

MVA was insane this morning - I’m glad we had appointments. I overheard the manager saying that 3 people called out today - yoiks!! We got to the agent just a little after our appointed time, so it worked out. And we had all the correct documents with us. I’m good till I’m 73, but since FCD’s wasn’t due to expire till 2021, his fee was less than mine and he’ll be back there in a couple of years. But we’ll both be good to fly as soon as the licenses show up in about a week.

Then I ran to Aldi and to Food Lion - we’re good for food for a while.

This morning, I cleaned my ice maker, and I managed to poke a hole in one of the plastic lines (don’t ask - it was a stoopit move on my part. I didn’t know I’d done that till I got home and noticed it was unplugged, then **FCD **noticed the counter was puddled. I’m guessing my daughter unplugged it. I just finished taking it apart, fixing the hole, and reassembling the whole thing. I really should have gotten a new piece of tubing - and I will if it leaks again. But for now it seems to be working.

This past weekend was bad for me, food-wise. I gained about 4# thanks to the starchy on-the-road meals and overwhelming lack of veggies and fruit. I’ve begun to rectify the situation, so this should be a very short-term setback. In fact, I think I’ll go get a peach.

Roxy is at the Dr - her fever is down, but she doesn’t want to eat, so they’re having her checked out just to be safe. I’m sure she’s fine.

Thanks!

I think it’s turning out as well as can be expected for my first attempt. I hope I get it finished today. Once it’s done and everything is cleaned up, I’ll post some more pics.

Tonka will be much happier being able to go outside (sort of) again. Goo has shown no desire to go out.

Roxy’s still a bit off. She ate some blueberries, which is a good sign, and she played a while, but I just put her down to nap - she had climbed up on me and put her head on my shoulder - she never does that. Poor baby…

Howdy Y’all! I finished spiffin’ da cave and achieved nappage. Go Me! Still none of the promised rain/tstorms/apocalypse but 'tis cloudy out so who knows.

Spidey and MOOOOOOM I did have to take a certified copy of my birth certificate, mail with my home address and I reckon other stuff I don’t remember now when I renewed my license. AIR they looked at none of it but I got the license with the gold star. :dubious: They also told me it would take up to thirty days for my permanent DL to arrive. I got it in less than a week. I went on a Tuesday (Jawja DDS is not open on Moanday, but Tuesday through Sattidy) and was in and out of there in under half an hour. I do remember that.

FlyBoy the catio is lookin’ good!

Nope. They showed up at 7:15 this morning. It’s gonna be a long day.

We went over to Maupin to the (hopefully) new house yesterday to install earthquake straps on the water heater. Before we left I purchased a kit which is designed to bolt said straps into the studs. I did not have the necessary tools and fitments to bolt the straps into a concrete wall. I shoulda remembered that. Maupin’s onliest hardware store is closed on Sunday, and we didn’t have time to drive to The Dalles to look for hardware. I’m gonna go look for expansion anchors (I think that’s what they’re called. I haven’t used them in years.) in a few minutes and we may have to drive over there again before the appraiser gets around to the house. We didn’t want an appraisal at all but they made us do it.

Gibbs is going crazy about all the noise up on his roof and in his yard. Vinnie is asleep on the bathroom rug. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s an excellent looking catio Johnny. The cats will hate it.

If I ever have to fly on an airplane again I’m gonna be screwed. I don’t have a birth certificate, or a passport. I should try to get one or the other someday I suppose.

Took the morning off for home maintenance. (Not me doing the work, my chequebook.)

First guy was the electrician. Confirmed that the wiring in our 90+ year old home is not safe. Said he wasn’t even sure where to start with the estimate. That can’t be good. He also confirmed that it is not up to code and the last guy we had working there didn’t comply with code. This will not end well. :frowning:

Second guy to come was the dryer repair guy, with the new part to make the dryer work! Big yay, as laundry has been building up since dryer went on the fritz last week. “Should be 20 Minutes to install it,” he says.

An hour later, he comes up and advises that the electrical panel is also on the fritz, so even though the drum now works again, will not start. I had suspected that might be the case. More parts to order. So, no Big Yay!

Bundled up stinking laundry and am on my way to laundromat. Stopped at local Irish pub for lunch and a beer. Big sigh.
