The Start of The MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 92 and who knows what might happen accordin’ to TWPTB. Seriously, it may or may not be stormy this afternoon.

I do not have a topic as such. This is just to get things started, so yak away folks!

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Darn you, bear! :stuck_out_tongue: I just finished writing up a new MMP with a topic and all, and you beat me to it. <shaking fist angrily>

Today should be our last really hot one for a while - rain is promised tonight and cooler temps for the next week or so - huzzah!! I have a little work I want to do in the yard, and I’m going to run to the Amish market. I think supper will be meatloaf, since there’s one in the freezer. Other than that, nothing on my agenda.

Happy Moanday!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

Happy Moonday!

I’m up early, trying to decide if I want to irk, then take Ripple to the park and do yard irk. Or if I want to take Ripple to the park, do yard irk, then irk.

It’s going to be cooler today, in the 80s. It’s still a bit cloudy out now, we had a lot of thunderboomers last night. It is supposed to rain again later today.

Also have to decide if we are getting groceries today or tomorrow. I want to go today, Sah-son wants to go tomorrow.
He also needs to figure out the saw type thingie so we can cut down the branch that is laying on the roof of the shed. The saw is supposed to reach up to 14 feet, I think that will be high enough, I hope.
He says he is putting the rock down today too. I know he won’t get all 20 bags done, but whatever, it is not a pressing job.

I am going to be very busy at irk, so I need to irk lots of extra hours. Last week I made more than twice what I usually make. So that is my week again this week. Irk irk and more irk.
When I am done, both the house and the yard will be a mess, but as the saying goes you have to* make hay while the sun shines*.
I feel like I should be irking now, but I am going to head back upstairs to get a shower, then take Ripple to the park.

Morning, mumpers! We have been promised a heatwave with temps up to about 30 degrees tomorrow. Just what I needed when I work in a damp, humid office that constantly feels sticky and horrible.

Irk madness has finally calmed down a bit for the time being, although I have one of my relative newbies off sick (if she comes back at the end of the current sicknote, she will have been off for 10 weeks), and another one who is awaiting budget-centre approval for another job in a different department so I might be losing him before the start of next academic year.

Mum’s lung cancer has had 13 days of radiotherapy which she finished at the beginning of July, she won’t know until early August if there’s been any change, but she is feeling very fragile and battered after all of this. She thinks the side-effects have caught up after the treatment ended, and she is still in and out of the doc’s surgery for various things. I went to see her yesterday and although she’s lost weight, tires easily and hasn’t got much of an appetite, she is still quite perky and positive. She’s not doing so bad for her age.

So that’s you lot caught up on my goings on…26 days until my trip to Denver!

{{boofae’s Mom}}. And hope you enjoy Denver, was there at the start of July, nice city (but terrible traffic…). and 86F (30C) isn’t that hot…:p;)

Sari, enjoy the park and the increased paychecks.

I think my brain is recalibrated to my normal schedule now, so today I’ll do some banking and try out the ‘key duplicator’ machine at the Kroger store and see how that works. Then over to the car dealership to see what the damage is for a new key fob.

Outside of that, nothing else planned. 76F heading for 86F with PM tunder-boomers predicted (had a storm last night).

Blurfage. Irking, of course. There is a little tropical thing out there that bears watching. Other than that just hotter than two hells.

blurfage

Hi Boofae! Was wondering how things were, glad your Mum seems to be doing OK so far. It’s only expected to be 24°C here tomorrow, didn’t realise the rest of the country was expected to be so hot

I appear to be having a bit of a lazy few days, I just have no energy. I might have to try some iron supplements or something, 'cos I shouldn’t be this tired this easily. Slept fine and everything. Maybe it’s just my Northern blood giving up when the temperature exceeds 20°C. I haven’t got a lot to do, but I need to give the place a proper tidy up, 'cos I’m away next week for two weeks, and someone’s coming round to feed the axolotls. Someone far tidier’n me. So far, I’ve dragged the vacuum out, rearranged a few things and stared at a load more and thought ‘ugh, I have to clean that’. Oh well, I’ll get it done.

Memo:
Re: Box full of money

Mom,
I drove over to Arkansas International Airport, once known as Eaker AFB and picked up the box.
There were quite a bit of expenses, gasoline, a cheeseburger and Coke [sup]TM[/sup] in Memphis. Certain…presents…had to be made to folks at the airport and certain unnamed government officials.
You share comes to a dollar two ninety eight. Would you like to be paid through Paypal, a cashier’s check, or I can put the money in an envelope and mail it.

Ya shudda checked the last one:

I almost handed you one on a silver platter!
Other than that I am adulting and thinking of heading out to pick up my new eyeglasses. One thing with the transition is that I need a few days to adjust before I can totally drop my old ones. I almost get a strange sort of motion-sickness at first from the transitions not being in the same “sweet spot” my eyes and brain have gotten used to.

I will NOT be using them to drive home.

Oh yeah it IS monday, isn’t it?

Vacation  MWAAAHAHAHAHAhAHA!

**flytrap **- just give it to the next panhandler you see…

I finished my yardwork, and as I was showering off the crud, scrubbing one leg, I had one of them twinges in my back that radiated thru my body. And now my back hurts. It’s really stupid, because I wasn’t doing anything strenuous or reaching from an awkward position. My foot was up on the molded-in shower seat, and I was cleaning off the mud on my calf, when* SPROINGGG!!!* I just took some ibuprofen and I guess I’ll sit a bit before venturing to the store and the Amish market.

I don’t need this. Dammit.

It must be my lucky week - I just got another email saying I’ve won a brand new BMW and $3.5 million!

What cracks me up about all of these scams - the addresses always add “United States of America” after the city/state/zip code line. This one even included “Neighborhood: Mid-Wilshire” - ummm, OK then.

Howdy Y’all! I have been cave spiffin’. Takin’ a break before doin’ more. Or not. I’m willy-nilly on that right now. I have to head over to the church house around noonish to meet someone from our fire alarm service provider. The alarm box (for lack of a better word) in the church proper is makin’ an eep sound and givin’ a low battery message. This is all hooked into a central system so I think the battery is located where the central system is. Anywho, need to get that looked at. I’m pretty sure a fire alarm system should never go eep.

Ruble it is a thing. Southern USofAers like to talk about the weather. I think it’s genetic like SEC football and ownin’ a proper deviled aig tray.

BooFae glad you’re mum is doin’ relatively OK.

That’s a little far for me to go.

Mid-Wilshire is not really a neighborhood either. Sheesh. Do your research people!

BooFae hope your mom starts feeling better.

Last night Akiko-pup decided that something outside was magical delicious. We got up every hour or so and she had to check things out. Silly pup. I’m a bit tired today.

I think most of the bank stuff on the new house is done now. We sign papers on the 9th, so we’re getting close.

Having my first iced coffee of the summer. I always forget how refreshing and tasty these are.

I have a grrrrrr! with the fire monitoring folks. I went over to the church house to meet ‘em and at one p.m. when no one showed up, I called to find out what’s goin’ on. Turns out they have it scheduled for Firday at twelve-thirty. When I talked with ‘em this mornin’ I specifically said, “is that twelve-thirty today”, because I was a bit skeptical bein’ as usually stuff does not get scheduled in the same day as one makes a call. She assured me about today. :dubious: I kinda let ‘em know, in a nice way, of course, I was highly displeased. On the plus side, since I was there anyway I took care of a couple of duties I was goin’ to take care of tomorrow, so I guess no harm except for givin’ me wrong info. Oh well, everyone needs some aggravation, right?

Afternoon all.

Did banking and key-making this morning; glad I did the banking first. Made new house keys at the Kroger using “KeyME”. Got 3 made for $18, so of course none of them work…

Then went to car dealership to get a new fob, they said it would be “about $170”, which sounded OK, so I had them go ahead. Well, the fob cost $164, but then they had to program it and add an ‘internal’ key (why, I don’t know), so the total bill was $300! Live and learn.

While waiting for the car, also stopped by the Laz-Z Boy store, as I’m thinking about replacing furniture next year. Weird, some store show sectionals for $2000, there they were $4,000-$5,000!! I want something I can lounge upon and occasionally spill soft drinks on, not something that I’d be scared of getting dirty. Do people really spend that much for furniture?

OK, enough ranting. Looks like the rain went to the North, so guess I’ll stay dry for now. All y’all take care.

Yes it is. :stuck_out_tongue:

The Flying Toaster[sup]TM[/sup] came with a fob with a key in it, the first one I ever had. The first thing I did was have a flat (fob-less) duplicate key made which I stuck behind my license in my wallet, 'cause I’ve been known to leave my keys in the ignition from time to time. :o
IIRC, it cost me $1.25 at Ace hardware, but that was 7 years ago.

Did almost that exact same thing a couple of years ago. Pinched a nerve in my lower spine. Lots of stretches and twists and ibuprofin for a couple-three days. :frowning:

It’s not just a southern thing. Wifey, who was born and raised here in Orygun, always stops and admires any and all deviled-aig trays she sees. I think we even have one around here somewhere.
