I'm Up So I'm Startin' The MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 30 Amurrkin out and clear (I’ll give ‘em that cause the moon is all bright and shiny. Does that mean it’s mostly moony out?), with a predicted high of 50 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I shall defilthyfy da cave today. Tonight is men’s night over to the church house so I shall head on over there around fourish to set up. I have no designs on leavin’ da cave until then.

If this, indeed, is the new MMP, then I have no specific topic. Not that havin’ a topic matters cause that ain’t what we’re about. So, just natter on about stuff as usual folks.

flytrap you are right. Today is a holiday so no trash pickup. Oh well, I’ll just say I am extra early gettin’ the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can down to the road for pickup.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, onward into the day!

Happy Moanday Y’all!

First. Howdy. 55 F here this am. Happy New Week.

When I let Higgs out this morning, it was 12° according to my outdoor thermometer. She was quick about her business, so I’m sure that’s an accurate reading. I’ll have baby duty today because **FCD **will need daughter and SIL to do some work for him in the shop. The only other thing I have to do is get together documentation for our HELOC application.

No plans to leave the house today - we shall see how that works out.

Happy Moanday!!

Just checked the good weather site: 1.9 degrees out, windchill of -12 degrees. Everything solid outside.

Happy Moonday!

It is a frigid 9 feels like 9 below degrees outside.
My son stayed up because the cat wanted out and wouldn’t come back in, so he went to check the door all night so poor kitty didn’t freeze his ass off.
Ripple stuck his nose out the door this morning and said, that’s alright, I can hold it.

I don’t need to go out today and I have no intention of doing so.

I had a dream about you last night Swampy, and you were an INJR and I said is that because you like to INJuRe people, and we all laughed because we all know that isn’t true. For some reason, all of us MMPers were taking a bus trip together, with a few of us getting off in Silver Spring to go to the hospital for surgery. The rest were going on down to Florida.
Very weird.

Our trash is getting picked up today, I hear the trucks out there now. Ripple is supervising from his bench under the window.

Nothing special to do today. Making tacos for my son for dinner, shrimp with broccoli for me. I’ll finish off the cabbage soup for lunch.

I need to call directv to cancel some free thing that I’ll start being charged for in February. I think I watched one of the channels once or twice. Nothing I would pay extra for. TV is shit anymore anyway. I can’t wait for my contract to be up so I can cancel directv. I’m pretty happy with the firestick.

I need to remember to cancel the XM for my car. The latest bill is over $200 and I barely listen an hour a day. I’ll just put my case of CDs in the car and tolerate the static on NPR - I mean electronic static, not political static! The curse of living in the boonies - limited broadcast radio available.

Daughter is up and feeling better. She’s shoveling food into Roxy’s face right now. I need to shower and dress so I can take over babby duty.

Happy moanday.

Not much to report from up 'ere; the weather’s mostly cloudy with the odd spot of sun peeping through and the odd patch of rain. There’s faint rumours of the S word in a week or so, but I suspect it’ll be a speck of sleet if it happens at all. People round here rarely get to panic about actual snow, so they have to make do with panicking about the mere possibility of it maybe happening at some point in the future.

I’m giving the tiny plants a break from being Looked At today, there’s not enough to do there to warrant almost 2 hours of driving. I’m still working my way through all the skool irk I have to do, but I need a scanner to do the bit I’d most like to be doing (it’s in next week). Unfortunately, the whole site is actually closed today, so I’m having to do other things.

It’s stupid cold out this morning: temp was -6 when I woke up, without windchill. And we still have no snow to speak of. But that will change tonight/tomorrow. I guess we’re supposed to get something around 4 inches by the time Wednesday morning comes around.

My weekend was, in general, uneventful. My kids are cute and annoying. Laundry never stops. My son likes picking his nose… a lot.

I saw a wonderful play yesterday. Luckily, I could get there by subway, and didn’t have to do too much walking outside in the snowstorm.

It looks like we’re going back to Japan for another visit. My kids love going back to the place where they were born.

Beta-chan (for those who remember her) is now 10 and is fascinated by the fact that she has different DNA background than her classmates. There are only a few other students in the whole school who are mixed or biracial.

Morning all. Slept until after 8am today, to make up staying awake until after midnight Sunday. Did go out and (briefly) look at the eclipsed moon, but it was almost directly overhead and between the cold and my old neck, couldn’t watch for long.

Guess I’m in a warm spot compared to many, 26F now going to 38F according to the weather folks.

Need to make myself presentable. Take care all.

Midget, what play?

FCM, but if you listen to XM for an hour a day, that’s only 0.54 cents a day! I still get it because I am quick on the channel change and I get more options that way.

FCM, I saw your mention of Higgs. I’m about to take my Mauser outside, then on to PetSmart and buy him a sweater. Or should it be the other way "round?

It’s still very cold here with snow on the ground. Dachshunds have a problem with snow if they are smooth coated, like Mauser.

Bolding mine. Of course we remember her! has it really been that long?

Higgs will not wear a sweater. She goes out long enough to pee or poo, then right back in. Cozmo will stay out longer, but even he has limits. They’re wearing fur coats - how cold can they be?

I gave RoxStar a bottle, hoping she’d nap. HAH!! The kid does *NOT *like to sleep. She’s exhausting!

I debate getting rid of Sirius, I drive so little. But I appreciate it on the drive to the armpit, when I’d have to be scanning for channels the whole time.

When I was worried about the cat being out last night I was reading about animals and the cold and some man said if the temps drop below 60 he won’t let his dogs stay outside. I thought I sure hope he doesn’t have huskies, poor dogs. I think most animals can handle 60 and below pretty well. I saw a chart one time about how dogs and cats and comfortable temperatures. I can’t remember most of it but I remember most long haired or husky type dogs are happy in 30 degree temps. The HFH had a malamute and that dog was happiest in a blizzard. She would roll on the snow and lay on her back until she was covered with snow. I had a poodle mix who would not come inside in cold weather. One night I was in tears because he wouldn’t come in and it was freezing outside. The next morning I couldn’t find him, then I saw a pile of leaves in the corner of the yard start to move. He had buried himself under the leaves and was all frisky and happy.
Of course, Ripple with his short coat wouldn’t last long in freezing temps. Adam seems to like it, but he has a very thick and fuzzy fur coat. Maybe I’ll get a little house for him and put it on the back porch. I could probably use the crate Ripple was shipped in, take the door off, put an old blanket over it, and a little blanket inside.

Many Summers ago I saw a woman walking a Husky in a park on a long leash. He got into one of the park pools and wouldn’t come out.

I figure when I call to dump XM, they’ll offer me a better rate. If they halve it, I may keep it. When we first got it, it was under $100/year. Latest bill is $233. Nope.

FCM… do you like your XM? My car is equipped with it, but I bought it used so I didn’t get any trial period to see if I like XM or not. So I just haven’t bought it. I’ve debated getting it, especially for long drives to see my out-of-state family. It would be nice to listen to the same station the whole way instead of having to remember CDs/MP3 player or be switching stations every couple of hours.

It’s 40F here right now and not raining, at the moment. Trying to decide if it’s worth it to drive all the way to Costco for TP and paper towels. If they still had those fruitcakes they had before Xmas, I’d do it, but I suspect they’re all gone. Prolly just as well. Wifey’s on weight watchers again, so I’m eating healthier too, whether I want to or not. Not that I’m losing any weight, mind you. My body doesn’t work like that. The only diet that has ever worked for me was Atkins, and I was hungry all the time. :frowning:

The other day I was comparing the rolls of Charmin we get from Costco to the rolls we get at Freddy’s. Freddy’s rolls are much smaller, even though the package (from Freddy’s) crows about how big the rolls inside are. :dubious: They also cost about half again as much.

I think I’ll see if Wifey wants anything from Costco.

The kids got Wifey an XM receiver for her car for Xmas a few years ago. I asked if she wanted me to install it. She said “No way!” I don’t know what ever happened to it. She prolly gave it away.

Went outside last night when the eclipse was supposed to be almost total. Moon was covered by clouds. :frowning: Took the dogs outside 2 hours later, when it was all over, clouds were gone.

Oh well.

Howdy Y’all! Da cave is spiffed and I am chillin’ until time to head over to the church house. When I bought twuck it had a year’s subscription to XM. I would listen some, but I like to ride in silence so I did not pony up the money when it expired. OYKW is the same way. 'Tis still somewhat cold out but N.O.S. so there’s that. Also the wind is not fierce anymore.

Laterz!

**Juliet **- personally, I can take it or leave it. Mostly I listen to the comedy channels, which are terribly repetitive, or NPR, which doesn’t have either Morning Edition or All Things Considered. **FCD **loves it - he listens to NPR, MSNBC, 60s, 70s, classic vinyl, and a few other music stations he likes.

I have to admit, it is nice for long trips, but for my daily commute, it’s just not a big deal. I’d be just as happy with a CD or even silence.

I’ve been getting together the stuff the credit union wants for hour loan application. All we need is FCD’s 1099, which is supposed to come this week. I also think we have all our statements for our taxes. I’m so glad we’ve got an accountant doing it for us - with the business, it’s just too complex for me.

I think I’ll throw together a shepherd’s pie for supper. Other than that, nothing planned.
