It was a dark and stormy morning - an MMP

Sounds like all you homeowners had fun handing out candy to cute kids. Wanna know what I was doing last night? That’s right - homework. Not much choice when you have assignments due consecutively Tuesday and Wednesday. I was lucky to escape the office long enough to watch the new episode of House, finally back on the air after the grumblemumbleratzinfratzin World Series.

Oh, and I’m taking the Physics GRE again this Saturday morning. Yay me!

Meanwhile here’s today’s pun of the day. Now, don’t get too excited, but it is another visual pun. Don’t applaud, just throw money.

LiLi - some severe gigglesnorting going on over here. I can see some of my own friends doing that.

Oh, and I’ll refrain from making a joke about swampy blowing a gasket. Because I’m classy like that.

Spats actually we’re punchin’ out gaskets. Make of that what you will.

That ain’t the half of it

What did you think all those wire hangers were doing when your back was turned?

only 1 treater came by - with his mommy, I opened the door just enough to say "sorry, no candy - and I’m sick (I’d left the storm door closed so as not to breathe on the wee bairn) but that’s one more treater than I got last year. (or the several years before that) Must be a new family on the block.

I don’t see any leftovers on the snack table today - just as well - the last thing I need right now is the post sugar high crash.

Tons o’ work today - I’ll check babck when I get home tonight - don’t miss me too much

Talked with my friend this morning - they didn’t admit Grandbaby but she is back at her regular doctor’s office this morning. Her hands and feet are very swollen and she is very lethargic, which is highly unusual for her. She is also quiet, which is even more unusual - she’s usually a very vocal baby. She is still running a fever, so they are giving her something for that. My friend sounded very scared. Thanks for all the prayers and good vibes - and keep them coming.

Magic decided it was time for me to get up waaaaaay early this morning. It is not easy to sleep with a cold nose in your ear and a loud “Yow” right above your head. Last night I think he said “Blue”.

I need to send out Booster Club reminders about the tailgate party Sunday, and find out what time the bus is leaving Friday so I can get Connor’s road bag to him.

Swampy, when are you coming in for a game and dinner at Chef Lee’s?

Wait. Wait until you find little unexplained bruises all over, bruises that are suspiciously paw shaped…
(altho given the number of residents in the Cat Suite, you probably already have your share of those)

Whew. I’m all caught up from being out yesterday. Yes, it is 9:30 am PST. How sad is that? I get to come in at 6:45 am to help with a breakfast meeting. I think I get to have breakfast, too, after the attendees have had their share.

Big news - the in-between boss finally quit. As if we couldn’t see that one coming - she was out constantly and she was too nice. The firm just chewed her up and spit her out. Nice is a liability around here. Then again, so is having any kind of pre-existing health issue, because working here will definitely exacerbate it.

How long does hockey season last Snakes? I confess to not knowing much except sometimes the players hit each other with sticks.

I just ate a big bowl of veggie soup and cornbread, followed by a big chocolate chip cookie. I need a nap. Alas, round rubber gasket thingys call. Sigh

What do round rubber gasket thingys sound like?

>>boyoyoyoyoyoing, boyoyoyoyoyoing<< ??

Unfortunately, gasket rubber isn’t very stretchy, so there go the plans for The Mother Of All Rubber Band Battles…

As long as you guys are discussing food:

I’m in training for Thanksgiving, trying to expand my stomach to accomodate insane quantities of turkey and mashed potatos.

Jack’s Drive-in on SR 66 in Wyantskill is closing for the season on Saturday, so of course I had to go there for lunch today. In exchange for ten bucks I received enough burgers, fries and root beer to feed a small Somali village, and now I need an emetic and a nap. Seriously, my gut is distended and I’m having trouble keeping my eyes open. All I need to complete the post-Thanksgiving-dinner simulation is a Lions game and my sister making a pain in the ass of herself.

(Yes, I am goofing off at work again.)

Mass was nice, and I picked up Peanut Butter Cups (50% sale) on the way home.

I’m going to do a lot of pulled pork and beef. I need ideas for the weeks ahead using them up. I like this big batch cookery and freeze thing. I’m still ocassionally eating chicken and dumplings, and I’m making a Mexican casserole with some of the chili for tonight. I think I’ll make tortillas.

So. I can make sammiches, and spaghetti sauce (ragu), and maybe pupusas. Add it to baked beans. What else? Besides just eat with a spoon. The Mexican beef with peppers and onions (gentle reminder for taxi :D), tacos? Ideas?

Spats, I’m glad I’m not the only one with friends like that. She and Mr. Lissar are practically a comedy routine.

tigs, I forgot, the yarn is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Bulky in Purple Iris. It’s a superwash, since it’s going to a college student. I’m using size 15 needles. I loathe straights (needles, you pervert), but I don’t have any bamboo circs. Obviously, I need to rectify that situation! The cats, however, derive endless entertainment from batting at and chewing on the ends of straight needles, hence my preference for circs. Skunk has learned how to climb onto my lap, under the working yarn, circs, and project, to lie down. Too cute!

Lili, QD would be driven completely mad were she to visit my house. I had a roommate like her, long ago, and I got a little bit better about random piles of stuff, but I fear I’ve badly regressed since then.

::GASP!:: Was that our beloved Ex checking in?! Good to hear from you!

I am having severe concentration issues today. I should have just stayed home.

The good news is that I’m three-quarters of the way done re-doing that damn freakin’ Access database…again. Cross your fingers and hope it all works right this time!

I hate today.

Ok, hate is a strong word.

I wish today was a gasket, so swampy could punch it out.

Back from Mass and the dog park. The 8:15 Mass is the one where the kids from the school go to, 3rd graders dressed up like their favorite saint.

swampy, don’t feel heathenly, the Catholic Church moves Feast days around, too.

Jahdra, everything in my apartment is “organized” into piles.

Ex! Stop stuffing your face. It’s your turn to take Mom to the store. Watch my kids for a few hours while me and the mister sneak off for some snoggies. The TV is too loud. Haven’t you seen enough football yet? Pour me another Scotch. I’ve only had 3. I’m gonna sing the aria from Madame Butterfly for you all after dinner. Watch me dance on the table!”
Does that help?

Well, you were thinking of renaming him. Perhaps he’s stating a preference?

5 pages? I can’t keep up with the Cool Kids anymore…

Happy All Saints Day, everyone! It should have been Happy Halloween, but I never got here yesterday. My son has a great deal of fun dressing up as a knight (I made the tunic, “chainmail” headgear, helmet, shield and sword. I think 8 is the best age for Halloween.

We only had 6 Trick or Treaters. Last year we ran out of candy. I can’t figure it out…and now that candy calls to me, like Lorelei.
Cool looking cat-(freaky looking cat!)–very large ears, no?
Lessee here…good bosses vs meh bosses–yep, I agree. Various folks having surgery or other intrusive measures done–my best to all of them…grad school homework–hmm, wouldn’t know a thing about that…fire dispatchers who are trigger happy–bad on them!

Oh, and re the Pitting. I’ve never been Pitted-came close a few times, but no go. I am fine with that, having no love of verbal abuse and outright nastiness that the Pit can engender. I dunno how long I’ve been here-about 3 years (actively). The thing to hope for next is for someone to use a quote from you as a sig line. See? There’s a hierarchy to be observed, McStringed Instrument .

I am gladdened to see that my little dance [del]caused pain[/del] [del]made people’s days better[/del] caused pain.

:smack: Of course, I knew there was something important I was missing! From now on I think I will append all of my posts with a statement that is witty and insightful until someone recognizes my genius and uses it as a sig line.

Witty and insightful comment to demonstrate my genius: … … … shoot, I’ve got nothing.

But this is a perfect sig line for here! And if I used them, I would ask to use it. Ta da!
