You know what is a good parallel? The Storming of the Bastille. At the time, that must have looked pretty stupid, too. There were only 7 actual prisoners. It wasn’t even the seat of government. But it’s pretty widely understood that that was a flashpoint that really moved the French Revolution from possible to inevitable.
Or Lexington and Concord. Those were stupid little battles. Less than a thousand British troops. Less than a 100 Americans on the other side.
Or, fuck, the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. That was an attempt at regime change that shouldn’t have worked.
Violent acts aimed at regime change often work better than they should–because if you create enough chaos and cut off a few key players, opportunities develop. And Trump is fantastic at finding opportunity in the midst of chaos or disorganization–because he isn’t bound by any human decency or restraint.
The insurrectionists were not complete idiots to think this might be the thing that changed the course of history. It was possible that they could have “tried” and killed Pence and Pelosi and a few others, like they wanted to do with Whitmer. Smaller things than that have changed the world.
that one isn’t even trying; we used to attract a better class of trolls here…
Just put the sock on ignore. Normal (real) people don’t come in after two minutes or less of read time and stir the pot on their very first post.
What, are you going to try and hold that man accountable for his thoughts, words and actions? Just like a lib.
This isn’t Facebook-Posting without bothering to read what others have said just makes you look like an idiot.
saying idiotic things isn’t helping him either
“Chansley has spoken openly about his belief that he is an alien, a higher being, and he is here on Earth to ascent to another reality,” the document says. It quotes him saying in a YouTube video as saying, “I am able to perceive multiple different frequencies of light beyond my five senses and it allows me to see into these other higher dimensions.”
So he’s got that goin’ for him.
Which is nice …

Aww, he’s gone, and I missed my chance. I haz sad.
It’s the “Party of Personal Responsibility” passing the buck yet again. Funny how that always happens.
It’s “Koup Klutz Klan”. These hateful, evil, knuckle-dragging motherfuckers in no way, shape, or form deserve the courtesy C’s
I think the “Qoup Qlutz Qlan” spelling, although a bit more awkward-looking, adds a nice additional layer of mockery.
Well it wasn’t really the bad thing portrayed on the lamestream media - just some zany hijinks that got a bit out of hand /s
Yeah. That’s pretty good. It also gets to the whole Q-Moron thing. The important thing is to use the same letter at the start of each word.
“You kids stop those zany hijinks right this minute! Somone could get an eye poked out or a bullet in the neck or a fire extinguisher to the head or something.”
Qoup Cucks Klan.
We could just call them QCKs (quick) for short.
The Cs have their own sordid history,
How much more of this is necessary before the “it wasn’t a coup” people abandon the postage-stamp-sized ground of rationalization on which they currently teeter?
Add this: he hasn’t stopped tryng to find a way…this was YESTERDAY:

Suppose you build a dam and water builds behind it. One day it breaks and massive destruction… Or snowfall after snowfall builds in layers on the mountain and one day there’s a rumble, here comes the avalanche. “Stored energy” is the notion in physics, I think.
Psychologically that’s where Trump is. He built up so much arrogance over the years and had his way sooo many times. But now he’s been told NO dozens of times. He keeps doubling down. Spiteful to the point of not conceding, not inviting Biden to dinner, not transitioning…and STILL trying to change the outcome. Big donors have shied away, banks are distancing themselves, some of the fellow Republicans he was able to dominate are falling out of line…and he’s STILL trying to change the result. Pew says 68% don’t want him to remain a major political figure.
Now that baby’s pacifiers, aka Twitter and Facebook etc, have been taken away he may implode outside the public view. But if he wants to convince me that it wasn’t an attempted coup, he’ll first have to stop attempting it.
WRT the KKK etc. sorry if I missed these upthread but I’m hearing a couple others I’ve heard:
Y’all-qaeda
The Taliban-jo
Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Yes, but I think that one takes some direct heat off of the defendant. Personal responsibility beig of such importance to those guys, after all.
