Italian Actress-Memory Block-Help?

I recall a film, in which there was an Italian actress. She was wearing a white dress, white-rimmed -plastic sunglasses with black lenses, & may have been using a cigarette holder.

50’s-60’s era.

Here is a link

The woman on the left in the cartoon is a caricature of her.

Who was the actress? What film did she wear the costume in?

Haven’t got much to go by, but… Franca Valeri?

Noooo…the film was in English.

Gina Lollobrigida?

Is the picture in the second row the glasses you are thinking of?

It may or may not have been Gina, but the woman was wearing sunglasses, with black lenses.

Err… well, that narrows it down considerably. Sofia Loren and Gina Lollobrigida are the likely candidates then.

Oh, also Claudia Cardinale, Stefania Sandrelli and Monica Vitti. If she’s not one of these five (with Sophia and Gina), well, I’m outa here.

The other one who comes to mind is Pier Angeli who is stunningly beautiful and did English speaking films, but I can’t find a photo in those glasses…

I don’t think Anna Magnani did many, if any, English-speaking films - I can’t remember…oops, a quick check of IMDB says she did - here is the link:

but don’t see any shots with glasses. Man, what did they put in the water over there - these women are so beautiful.

Anybody else have any ideas/input?

Well she’s not Italian, but Audrey Hepburn was wearing the exact white outfit you mention, complete with white-rimmed sunglasses and cigarette holder, in the opening scenes of the movie Charade. (I know it’s a long shot, but hey, you asked for other ideas).

The first person I thought of was Elsa Martinelli. Since it’s not work-safe, I made it unclickable. You’ll have to C&P the url, removing the embedded spaces in “http” and the word “celebs”.

On the cartoon is a big-busted, big nosed woman talking about meatballs. Sophia Loren was, IS, well endowned - both with her honker and bra-size-wise - and a good cook. [she has written several cook books]

Is the picture you have in mind anything like this?
[7th row, first pic on the left]

As to the movie… There aren’t a whole lot English language movies with Loren in those days. Houseboat? The Black Orchid? That kind of woman?

The woman on the left in the cartoon.
I distinctly recall the glasses had white frames.
