It's a bad poem, but I still want it

Several years ago my sister in law found a framed copy of a poem, well a verse really, at one of the local festivals. It was about a daughter growing up and was titled, I think, “And Suddenly”. I asked her if she would send me a copy of it, as I wanted to see if I could work it out in cross stitch for my girls, but she wouldn’t share it. She said it was something special between her and her older daughter, so I dropped it. (I have my doubts about that, but that’s another story.) Anyway, I saw the poem in a little shop downtown a couple of years later, but I didn’t get it, thinking it would show up again somewhere. I was wrong.

So I’m coming here to the fount of all knowledge, large and small, to see if you guys can help me. It’s a sappy little “inspirational” verse, but I liked it, and I’d like to have it if I can find it. The theme is that time goes by quickly, and daughters grow up faster than you think, kind of like that Mike Douglas song. I wish I could give you more to go on, but that’s really all I have. Thanks for your help.

Butterfly Shoes

Amidst her butterfly curtains
and her little butterfly shoes
is a little butterfly bonnet
in shades of pinks and blues.

She looks so cute in her little shoes,
when out with her mom she goes,
For strolls throughout the town,
and to the circus shows.

But Mommy’s precious baby,
has so quickly grown.
In her summer-time sandals
she’s toddling all alone.

Her mommy is always at her side,
to kiss her when she fails,
And read a bedtime story,
of butterflies, birds, and snails.

The nursery’s now a bedroom,
the butterfly curtains gone,
For the school bus she now waits,
with the coolest shoes around.

She skips off to her classmates,
with her bouncing pony tail,
And smiles and waves bravely,
with her lovingly packed lunch pail.

As the years go drifting by,
her first high-heels appear.
Then cowboy boots and platform shoes,
and gazing into the mirror.

Then suddenly she’s all grown up,
and works a job of her own.
Taking all her things
to a place that she calls home.

My little girl is walking
with her father hand in hand,
In shoes of lace and satin,
the finest in the land.

I recall when she was small,
and now she is a bride.
What happened to my little girl,
and her shoes of butterflies?

And now Daughter, you’re a Mom …
and that makes me a Granny.
Your precious little baby,
will bring smiles to many.

Hold each moment closely,
and lock them in your heart,
For these days of love and trials,
soon drift in to years.

Make sure she knows that mother and God
will always understand.

Don’t worry as she spreads her wings,
as all our daughters do,
One day she’ll wear a mother’s shoes,
and she’ll come home to you.

That one’s pretty sweet, but the one I’m looking for is a lot shorter. It’s really only about three stanzas, with the …and suddenly thing in each one. I did a Google search for it a couple days ago, but I got a lot of real poetry, and I’m not sure the one I want quite qualifies. It’s one of those that shows up on the plaques they sell at festivals and such, and in the little crafty kind of stores. At least once in a while.
