I have had fun living in the past but as all good things must come to an end, I am back home and living in the future again. Fun holiday was had, fuzzbutts have been rescued from feline holiday camp and booked in for their next stay at the end of August. I am sure at some point we will be forgiven for doing that to them. I put food out for the spare cat and that has been devoured so I guess he’s still visiting to see what is on offer and will eventually move in when he’s ready.
Unfortunately, I got home to find that my doting parent is in the local horsepistol. Not quite sure what the problem is, I think it could be an irregular heartbeat or something but the quack has been talking about the possibility of a mini-stroke. She must be on the mend though, she gave me a list of things she wants me to collect/bring/do/find and then rang me at 7.30am today with a couple more things to add to the list.
So instead of lazing at home getting over the jetlag, catching up on sleep and watching crap television, I am at her flat getting stuff together and will shortly be trekking to the horsepistol and attempting to find my way into the carparks.
Nothing on the agenda but irk today. A friend invited me to her house if I need to get out of here. I need to irk though. We’ll see.
No axe Doggio, however there are golf clubs in the living room and a whole butcher block full of knives on the kitchen counter.
Enjoy your get together Swampy. Your friends are lucky to have someone with not only a cement pond but loves to cook too.
Enjoy the picnic FCM. Don’t forget the sunblock!
Welcome back to the present BooFae I hope your mom is okay.
Wild Turkey reminds me of my father. He liked to throw a few good parties throughout the year and one of the rules was that every time another guest arrived everybody already there had to drink a shot of Wild Turkey.
At least we had a club cellar, so the noise was contained.
Looks like we’re not going to the picnic after all. We’ll have to eat the deviled eggs all by ourselves - damn the luck.
**FCD **wants to work on a painting rather than go to a meeting/picnic. I will go to my studio shortly and futz around. I need to clean up there and reconstitute some clay, and maybe I’ll start a couple other projects. Overall, it sounds like a good way to spend the day.
I had a hot dog for breakfast and a piece of the birthday cake mom finally baked for Sah-son. It looks like everybody went out, I don’t know for how long but I’ll enjoy the silence while it lasts.
That’s beautiful, lieu! Bougainvillea? That’s one of my favorites.
Had a lovely plant exchange yesterday. Scored some nice items that will fill in some gaps.
Am continuing with picture review. Really need to get serious about getting them fully organized in 3D and also uploaded so family can admire whenever they like.
Also starting to degrunge the bedroom since I have the house all to myself until Friday.
As a matter of fact, I did. It will hold 17 egg halves. Yeah, I know, dumb number. That’s what happens when you start with one divot in the center and build around from there. Next one I make, or perhaps next pair I make, will be rectangular, like egg cartons, and they’ll hold a dozen each. I’ll glaze them white, with yellow in the divots. Cute, huh? I think I’ll make a few of them to sell.
I’ve got 2 slabs in the damp cabinet to dry out a bit and another glop in a partially open container to dry out a bit more. I’m reclaiming a bunch of old clay scraps and they were very VERY wet, as in puddling wet. One dried enough for me to roll out a slab, but the other is still too wet, hence placement in a partially open container. Maybe tomorrow it’ll dry enough to be handled.
And I did get my studio tidied, so yay for that. Plus I did a load of towels and they’re out on the line. The house is closed and the air is on, dammit. Stoopit summer.
A home made deviled egg plate, and an odd number at that.
These Border States are downright subversive! :dubious:
Have you considered putting your ceramic talents to work on frag mounts? Cylindrical, about the height of the sand bed with a hole on top. Heavy enough that the various critters won’t knock then over.
I can’t say for certain, not being privy to such decision-making, but the guy’s been moved from department to department a lot more than is normal there, being a problem wherever he goes, and no-shows are definitely NOT a smart move. He certainly isn’t doing himself any good on the “stay employed” front, IMO.
Just got up and fed the Princess about 10 minutes ago. Skipped deheathenating :(, due to a combo of worry about the car holding up and mutual insomnia.
It’s 10:40am as I type and TWC says it’s already 90 out there. Projected high 105. I have a nasty suspicion it may well go higher if it’s this hot already.
Seventeen is a good number of deviled egg halves. You always have a few whites that fall apart, and you have to have a taste test or two, or three, and a second opinion or two.
sari - I figure if I boiled 9 eggs, I’d sample one and that would leave 17… Or if I boiled 10 eggs, there would be 3 halves to sample… or if I boiled 11 eggs… etc.
