I just found out that the Ashland Optimist Club is holding their 2nd Annual Softball Tournament on September 20 & 21. This is pretty close to my house (walking distance if you like to walk), so if anyone wants to go watch people play softball, there’s that.
Also, I don’t know who likes to go out drinkin’ and dancin’, but for late evening entertainment, we could go to SoCo. This is my favorite club in Columbia, as well as the only gay bar left in town (straight friendly, so don’t be scared). If anyone is interested in this option, let me know, as I have a handful of friends that would love to join us there.
Or if the whole drinkin’ and dancin’ sounds good but you don’t want to go into town, we could put on some disco CDs and have our own little gay bar in my living room. (Bonus for Option B - we piss off our Phelps protesters by dancing naked in front of the sliding glass door.)
Shoot. And here I was hoping to have an intelligent conversation about the finer points of the Evil Dead movies. If nothing else, we’d settle it over bananas and butterscotch pudding.

Hubby has decided he’s going to come with me after all, so, assuming we can find a babysitter for the mini-Marlis, we shall both be there. Is there a set starting time or just show up sometime after noon?
Never been there on Thursday nights. In fact, I’ve only been once this year so far. Maybe twice last year. I don’t go out much. I do want to go see a drag show, though. Last time we went (about six weeks ago), one of the floor staff told me he’s in the show and I’m really interested to see what he looks like as a woman.
Also, one of the other floor staff (Pearl - your co-worker will know who I’m talking about - pump him for Pearl stories to tell me when you get here ) and I used to know each other fairly well. He didn’t recognize me - I’ve lost so much weight that he had no idea who I was all evening! he he he

Sorry that I haven’t been paying too much attention to this thread–school started up, the teachers came back and, well, that always takes up waaaay too much time.
Is the 20th still the projected date? If it is, then it looks like I won’t be able to make it. I just started attended classes at UMKC to finish my degree and the lab I’m taking meets four weekends out of the semester. We get hit up for Friday evenings (although we might get lucky and have only assignments for that night; I mean, who wants to show Friday night for classes?), Saturdays and Sundays.
Sept. 19-21 is the first weekend lab. And I won’t be able to miss that (well, technically I will, but I don’t want to have to write a 20-page paper to make up for it). So, unless I’m wrong and this Dopefest is scheduled for past the 20th, then I’m going to have to regrettably bow out.
All that said, I’m willing to wrestle Horseflesh in banana pudding at a later date. Or maybe even corndog man. If he’s not too busy trying to climb down from the Horrible Toilet Volcano.
Holy Crap–I had it down for the 27th! Damn good thing I have Skip to periodically unwedge my head from my ass, otherwise sperfur and I would have been all alone and I’d have missed the pudding.
I’m fine for the 27th. I’ll still have to bring the rat pack with me though, so if you thought you’d get out of dealing with my kids for a day by something so shallow as finishing your degree, Skip, you’d better think again.
Oh, it’s on buddy. It’s on like a thong. Thong-th-thong-thong-thong. I’ve been in intensive training for the past several weeks learning to wrestle in all manner of foodstuffs. Another week will just allow me to hone my skills to a pudding-like edge.
In looking back, I also see that misstee was going to check on a doper named Sanderella90 and Rexdart was going to check on NPavelka.
This may good, because it gives Mirror Image egamI rorriM one extra week to turn 18. It also gives Turbo Dog more time to escape the evil clutches of the rednecks and Marlitharn extra time to pump her co-worker for gossipy stories for me.

That is the saddest story I’ve heard all day. Kinda like, you know, at the end of The Neverending Story where, huh, it… um, well–gosh. Ends.
That was sad. But yours was sadder. Sorta like that one time when before Alvin, Simon and Theodore were adopted by Dave, they were almost eaten by this other creature in the pound (I think it might have been a snake; possibly it was a weasel; more than likely, though, it was an ex-roommate of mine who liked hunting squirrels and other small critters). But they didn’t get eaten.
Which was sad. I mean, a lot of helium balloons lost their lives to those of us who wanted to sing “I Love Rock and Roll” just like the furry threesome.
