It's a holiday for some in the MMP!!

I got all the hand me downs from my brother…GI Joe, guns, tricycle, tinker toys and erector set

***I HAVE ACHIEVED ACCESSIBILITY!!! *** After lunch today, I was sent to Admin to get the email certs attached to my CAC, and when I came back, I was able to log on to the computer. Huzzah! Then the boss came over and told us how to start CREO, and after some futzing around, I launched myself into the tutorial. And I discovered that my cube mate ain’t none to bright… Also, I’m not impressed with CREO so far. First time in a program I have to click the middle button! And there’s no right click for menus like in every other program on the planet!!!

It’s a good thing we got on line, too. The book I took with me sucked royally. I figure the author must have paid off the reviewers who raved about it. It’s destined for Goodwill.

**FCD **still isn’t home, but he warned me he’d be late. Supper will be either ravioli or tortellini with homemade sauce. It’ll be a quick and easy meal, which is good, since I have no idea when he’ll get home.

One more day, and it’s a short one - only 8 hours!! WOOHOO!!

Howdy Y’all! Irk has been survived and tomorrow is a no irk day! YAY!!! Dindin was clean out da fridge. All leftover foodstuffs have been consumed. Tomorrow I shall celebrate my day off by gettin’ twuck’s oil changed, gettin’ a haircut and bakin’ a cake. I live it up when I’m left sans adult supervision. The cake is to take to large and in charge Parrott, Jawja on Sattidy. We’re goin’ up there to help JDD and Partner do some sprucin’ up of da yahd at JDD’s ‘rents place. I’m takin’ a butter pee-kahn cake with cream cheese icin’ up, well, cause, cake! In return for our labor, we are bein’ taken by JDD and Partner to this really, really, really good catfish place in Plains, Jawja Sattidy late afternoon. Sounds like a wild day does it not.

MOOOOOOM yay for 'puter access!

I never had a Johnny Seven O.M.A., so I hereby declare I had a deprived childhood as opposed to the mostly depraved one I did indeed have.

The only non-girly toy I ever had was a doctor’s kit. It might have been a nurse’s, but I insisted everyone call me “doctor”.

They’re tightening up the metal detectors and instigating penalties for beeping too much. On top of that, it’s up in the air whether my cube farm will be in the no food or drink area. We’re pushing for the department with which we share this area to move anyone who has product on their desk to a production area. The process writers in that department want that too, so we may be able to keep [del] the elixir of life [/del] drinks and lunch on our desks.

Supper was ravioli - leftovers will be my lunch tomorrow. Dessert was red velvet cake that my sweetie bought.

I’s tahred - I see another early night tonight. MWAH!

Hey Sexy Doctor, what’s happening?

I have made a change of cake makeage plans. I shall bake up a cream cheese/sour cream pound cake instead of what I said earlier. I got me a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for pound cake and since I’m the one makin’ said cake I get to decide.

And on that note, we’s tahrd so we shall lie upon the bed and watch teevee until sleepy time.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

My hair wasn’t that long until I was in my teens and I never wore dresses when cooking. Oh – you mean the TommyBurst ad. I thought you meant the one Swampy posted.

Actually I missed out on toy guns. The standard rule throughout my extended family has always been once you start shooting regular guns NO gun can be (or be treated like) a toy. As a result I didn’t play army much or any of that usual kids stuff.

Getting back to the fun next door ------- turns out it was pretty much legit workers but doing a piss poor job – left for the day and forgot to close up. But I learned all this in an interesting manner somewhat like the commercial. I had just gotten back from shooting this morning when I hear a ladder hit the side of my house. So I walk out around the back to the side-way (my property) between the two houses and here are two guys looking up at the neighbors and a ladder leaning in a suspicious manner under my guest room window. I’m not sure if it was approaching them quietly or the bulge under my shirt but I had their complete attention while we all waited for a return visit from the police. They did have the proper work orders to be in the neighbors house (he’s dead and the bank is foreclosing on the estate) but they did get a very stern lecture on trespassing to do their work, leaving the job-site unsecured the day before, not touching base with the neighbors, and generally being the low end of the gene pool. And I got a thank you from the senior officer for not being as threatening or angry in the circumstance as he would have been.

And folks wonder why I smile a lot. You have to or you would probably scream.

I’m sorry but the first thing I flashed on was the whole Judge Stone/Mel Torme thing from Night Court.

It would be bad to admit that I was about 8 when the federal government gave/sold me the first of several real firearms through the Department of Civilian Marksmanship, huh?

Not only were there very realistic toy tommyguns but Ma Dueces as well and a fantastic toy bazooka that fired shells you could put someone’s eye out with.

And some really cool handgun/rifle sets that were basically full sized and fired plastic bullets.

Boy do I ever miss the 60s now. ;)

Recipe? Oh please, please

Tonight we shall have roasted chikkie, mashed N.O.T., and home made corn bread. And now I want cake. :stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t even say the 1911A1 (real) I had was all that special; half of the “English” kids in my grade school had one around somewhere. Hey! Cheap guns and almost free bullets from the government? All us ridgerunners were on that one like stink in the hog pen!
The ones I miss -------- remember the full-sized metal copies? Replica Arms or something like that? Dirt cheap and looked real as anything out there. They would basically function but not fire. And someone made model kits as well of stuff like the Winchester 73 and MP-40 and stuff.

I’m getting all farbenkt.

“I’ll send flowers.” -Al Capone.

I worked, I got a complaint(apparently, “Ok, we’ll make you happy and do it your way” is the wrong thing to say to a customer.:dubious:) Tomorrow is my Firday. Making jambalaya for dinner.

For a lot of people I know, “safety meeting” means rolling a doobie.;):D:cool:

Okay, I can go to sleep happy. The Mets just beat the Dodgers and will now make mincemeat out of the Cubbies in the NLCS.

Worse I think

I have no idea what I did today but I was busy the whole time.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 55 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 88 for the day. Tomorrow’s high will be 72 accordin’ to the weather PTB. Weird weather round these parts.

Today I plan to be at the Ford place when they open to get twuck’s oil changed. Then it’s haircut time, followed by a trip to the grocery sto’ and then back to da cave for cake makeage. Fun times ahead!

sunny I have a sorta kinda recipe for this cake. It’s really just a plain ol’ pound cake with eight ounces of both cream cheese and sour cream blended in. I reduce the milk from two cups to one cup. I feared it would be too moist but the cake comes out great every time. This is the only cake I have ever made from “scratch”.

OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. I should also purtify so as to be presentable to the public I reckon.

Happy Firday Y’all!

That sounds delicious. I’ll have to try it. I’ve never thought about putting sour cream in cake.

Good morning everyone! 1.5 hours left in my shift, then I’m going home and passing out! I work 16 hours tomorrow night, not looking forward to that!
I’ve recently become obsessed with nail polish and my sister sent me about 30 different bottles - I’m SO excited to try them all out! I’m not usually into makeup or nails or things deemed ‘girly’. I’ve been watching nail art videos for the past hour haha. I feel like I’m annoying my friends with sending them a different picture of my nails every day. It’s just so fun!
My paint supplies and canvases are in storage, so I guess this is my artistic outlet for now.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Up, caffeinated, off today.

Actually came into irk on time (0700) today; usually I’m here between 0600-0615. Finally decided that it wasn’t worth it and spend a half-hour on the web/playing spider solitaire while breaking fast and letting time flow. I may have to make it a habit.

Otherwise happy Firday all.
