(Old) It's a matter of taste in the MMP

A glorious day here! It’s currently 56F and climbing to only 63F, overcast with showers. This is a day to throw open the windows!

Van Gogh, I hope you get some sleep.

metal mouse, you would be appalled at the things I do around my place in inappropriate attire and a state of not-ready-for-public-viewing. Here’s a story for your amusement:

Once I was coloring my hair. And eyebrows. I always strip down to the buff to do this messy process. They hair dye turns an interesting shade of purple while it “processes,” in hairdresser parlance. After I gooped up, I looked like a deranged Groucho Marx, sans moustache.

Then I spied one of my indoor kitties, Callie, outside, where she was not supposed to be! I have no idea how she engineered her escape, but there she was. I panicked.

I gave brief consideration to darting out the door nude, but at the last moment, I quickly grabbed my ratty old housecoat that looks like it was a castoff from the Salvation Army in another decade. I shoved my feet into my bright green garden clogs and dashed awkwardly out across the yard, coaxing, “Kitty, kitty, kitty!”

Callie was coy. She slunk just out of reach. It was clear the purple hair and eyebrows were making her nervous. We paced a bit further away from the house. She skittled into the forest and made like she was going to scamper even deeper into the woods. Ugh.

At long last with a bit of leftover ham, I induced Callie to join me. I hoisted her under my arm and we began our little hike back to the house.

We were halfway there when I heard the familiar toot of our local United Parcel Service fellow < nod to doggio >, who was pulling into the yard like a wayward NASCAR driver. There was nowhere to hide. I was a good hundred yards away from any structure into which I might take cover. There was no tree trunk in my immediate vicinity large enough to duck behind. It’s two in the afternoon, I am standing there in my vintage housecoat – agape, I might add, but for which I am now profoundly thankful – my flattering green garden clogs, purple hair and eyebrows and clutching a distressed and determined cat squirming like a sackful of snakes and who, if she could talk, would probably be howling she has been taken hostage by a frothing sanitarium escapee. Who am I to argue?

The UPS driver struggled mightily to keep it off his face. He failed.

“Shall I leave this over here?” he asked with exceeding care and, making no sudden moves, indicated a spot where he might leave the package.

“Yes, yes, please, if you would be so kind,” I replied, with as much dignity as I could muster. Not much.

He slowly set the package down, never taking his eyes off me, then beat a hasty retreat to the safety of his truck. The truck flew out of my yard. I could hear him hitting gears as he hightailed it back to the main road. Never saw that driver again.

One is never safe from public viewing! You were wise to put on your shorts! And glad you got your Braunschweiger supply replenished!

FCM, Tequila Grill sounds like a fine place for breakfast, even if only occasionally. Glad you got good value.

I’m with swampy on this. If you catch me nekkid on my own place, you get what you deserve.

Yup. I first encountered those in Montana, more than < mumble > fort – < mumble > years ago.

I, too, am glad to be learning for the reasons so well stated by boofae. Thanks for sharing your journey.

Very witty.

Nice Lego work, oopsie! Thanks for sharing the photos! And I’m with you on the faucet. The one you’re replacing is… odd.

Yesterday out with friends for lunch was very pleasant. We enjoyed wonderful Thai food and had some good laughs. The drive turned out to be no big deal due to my strategy of staying off the main route. I encountered only a few garage sale devotees on the road, and they were all sane.

Speaking of photos, my friend got some really good ones of Ollie. Unfortunately, she only knows how to text me and not email me from her phone. She did text them to me so I have them on my phone, but I, also a dummy when it comes to phone stuff, am having trouble figuring out how to email them to my computer. I don’t want to pair up the phone and the computer, which complicates things. I’ve been watching tutorials, but so far, no joy. Will keep trying. Next time, I’ll just hand her my camera.

Some days I wonder how I manage to put on pants.

I hope everyone has a better day today than yesterday.
