Frannie,
Yeah! A teacher who loves her work! Makes me feel good for the kids in your class this year. And it makes such a difference to them too, knowing you want to be with them. Wish I could keep the dratted plants alive…
dogsbody,
WOW! Thanks for the site. I especially liked the photo of the Riverbelle(?)…gotta love those hip and valley roofs. That was cool and I loved the composition…not that I know too much about photography, but I know what draws my eye. I imagine it can’t be easy taking performance photos either. I expect to hear all about your awards from this latest entry.
What’s got me in a good mood lately is my travel plans. As I’ve mentioned before, Mrs. Trion and I are going to London and Dublin in early October. But just last week we got a call from one of our friends who’ll be getting married in April. This means a trip to Chicago, home of the Straight Dope. I’m psyched. I never get to go anywhere.
Oh wow. A trip to London and Dublin? Since I was like…seven I’ve wanted to go to England, Ireland and Scotland. One of those life dreams. And you get to do it. Yes, I am very happy for you and the mrs. I hope you get to do all the stuff you want and more.
And the Chicago trip will be fun, no doubt. I’ve had the best times at weddings. Don’t forget to take pictures.
struuter
hflathead,
No fucking doubt. That is fantastic news. You all are making my day…hell, you’re making my month here. Give your wife my sincerest best wishes. You have to love it when negative means positive.
Hey struuter baby, you’ve always got me to come to, you know that. Let me add to this bucket-o-happines. I adopted a dog, and he is a pure-bred springer. I may be trading in my new Intrepid for a '73 Ford Maverick with a monster V-8 and things couldn’t be better. That’s my contribution.
struuter,
First, I’d like to say that based on your posts, you definatly deserve the good stuff. I hope it’s right around the corner for you.
OK, you asked for it.
This year has been good to us overall, we consider ourselves lucky.
I had a slight scare a few months ago, thoaght there may be a serious health problem, and turned out to be nothing. It was a huge relief.
Wife is doing very well, occasionally stressed about work, but usually able to relax during weekend getaways (which we’ve been able to take).
Most important, Son is doing great. Great student, good heart, and smarter than both parents put together (not that either of us are too dumb). A joy in both our lives.
Oh, and the candy jar always has one of what I’m looking for!!
ChrisP,
Every time I see that you’ve posted I can’t wait to read it. Makes a girl all tingley(sp?) inside. Really, though, you always make me feel good. I know being called sweet is not the most wonderful adjective a guy can get (kinda like when my friends used to tell guys I had a great sense of humor…good, but not like being proported as a hot little number)…but if you can take it in the right light it’s meant in the best possible way. (And you’re a hot little number, too, don’t forget.)
Baglady,
It’s like buttah. I only wish Bah-brah were here.
Sili,
Thanks for that. You are priceless.
Take care of yourself.
Somebody told me once that the nut doesn’t fall far from the tree as far as kids go. Small wonder about your son. He got his good heart from you.
Thank you miss struuter, as I always love to read what that brilliant little mind of yours has come up with. I go through months where, even though everything is going right, I just get depressed for no reason. Both my grandfather and my mother were treated for severe depression, so I think genetics may be creeping into things, but I just have to stand back and look at the whole picture. This is life and things will always be both good and bad, and the choice is up to me as to how I will deal with them, and you seem to do that as well. If I can’t offer advice, I can offer sympathy, and someone to talk to.
Yeah, perspective is a wonderful thing…when I can pull my head out of a** long enough to do it. I oughtta be hostess of the year for all the pity parties I throw. But it is ALWAYS easier to listen to other people and help them out than to deal with your own shit.
And hearing everybody’s good news is really fun. I love it. Trouble is, my husband is going to have me committed when I start going on,
“Oh, guess what! Trion and his wife are going to Europe and Rachelle is getting married! hflathead’s wife is okay…”
“Who are you talking about?”
“Um…nevermind.”
And you…yeah, you with the Force…what’s this new springer’s name? And can I have a ride in your Maverick?
His name is Benny Goodman, and Ironically, he is deaf. Wow, isn’t that funny… He is 9 years old and is the world’s oldest baby. If you don’t mind the noise, you can have a ride in my Mav…but watch it baby, it’s intoxicating.
ChrisP,
How cool is that? I know some real goobers who’d pass up on a pet because of something like deafness. Just another monument to your quality of character, huh? I bet you have to be careful with him, though, since calling him is out of the question. Have to keep a close eye on him?
And I don’t care how noisy your car is. It can’t possibly any worse than mine. But the company would make up for it…
Now quit it, you’re embarassing. I actually didn’t know he was deaf until after we got him. He is such a sweetheart, and the thought of a Springer Spaniel, or any dog this seet for that matter, just tears me up. On a completely oposite subject, my car would be loud because it has headers and glasspacks, it’s a smooth, sexy, loud. And you’ve always got spot in just for you, sweetheart.
Listen you, you better stop all that sexy talk right now or this family-friendly OP is going to turn into one of those typical SDMB flirt threads real fast.
Although…maybe we need one of those to start off the week right.
Well, steering this thread away from flirting and back on track…in approximately 12 hours, my aunt, uncle and two cousins will be flying into the airport in Atlanta from England to visit with us for three weeks! I haven’t seen them in three years!
My husband and I are trying to get pregnant. Well, I will actually be the one getting pregnant but I guess you figured that one out!
My boss just found out that he is going to be a daddy for the first time–and it’s twins!
One of the women in my office who used to pull the crappy religious discrimination stuff on me has stopped and apologized and we are getting along very well!
One of the guys I work with just showed me a catalog that is full of really inexpensive glass bottles and I am going to place an order! (I am absolutely crazy about glass bottles in all shapes and sizes!)
I have been overpaid on my past four paychecks (a total of about $350 dollars) and no one has noticed!
That’s all for now. I know it’s all pretty silly but sometimes many little good things can be just as good as one big one!
The best news for me so far this year is I got a house contracted to be built for me and my family. The best part about it is, it’s in a real desirable location so there was about 200 people trying to get 50 lots. I got there 3 hours early and got one!
