It's all Greek to me?

Hey guys, when it comes to Ancient Greece, did the murdering teens Electra and Orestes exist? Is it true they killed their mother in cold blood to repay their father’s murder?

Although it is now accepted that there was some sort of “Trojan War,” the details have all been lost to distance, time, and legend.

It is unlikely that Agamemnon, Clytemnestra, Orestes, and Electra ever existed, but if they did, we have no information about them, now.

The legend, synopsized on Encyclopedia Mythica, is pretty much as you described it. (The link provides a further link to Thomas Bulfinch’s retelling of the story.)

FYI: In Greek, the common expression is “It’s all Chinese to me.”

Which is partially why I asked about the difference between Mandarin and Cantonese in another thread.
