It's all so quiet!

It’s my cousin’s engagement party this weekend. So I came home today from uni so I could go.

However. Some idiot forgot and set the burglar alarm. I DID NOT KNOW THE CODE TO SWITCH IT OFF.

So I come in and the alarm starts going. Even though I don’t know the code there is another way to switch it off. To switch it off we have a little wireless box thing with a button to press to switch it off. The alarm has only recently fitted, and we didn’t have enough little box things to go around. GUESS WHO DOESN’T HAVE ONE. Yep, me. But I look around the house to see if anyone has forget there’s, but with no luck.

So I phoned my dad at work. But they don’t know where he is. So I leave a message.

I phone my mum’s cell phone. No answer.

I don’t have a clue where my brother is.

After half an hour my dad finally phones back, and tells me the code so I could switch it off.

Hurrah! Although now I have a killer headache. At least it’s quiet now!

The phrase is ‘It’s oh so quiet’
But shouldn’t the cops or your neighbors have shown up in that half hour the alarm was going off?

“But shouldn’t the cops or your neighbors have shown up in that half hour the alarm was going off?”

not in my experience. most people get annoyed, but do little. Am I right in thinking this is Wakey Gemma?

Cellphone? is that what they call them up there now?

I don’t live there any more. Sadly, my parents dragged me to live in Barnsley kicking and screaming. However during the holidays I tend to spend most time in Wakey because all my friends are there!

We have to say cell phones. Wouldn’t want to confuse the Americans.

I have a headache. Give me a break!

Apparently, no one cares.

We have an empty house across the street. The alarm goes off often. We had a bad two weeks where it went off for hours on end. I personally called the police a dozen times. Their response was - well there is no report from any alarm company about it. Finally they begrudgingly sent a car by who looked at the house and ascertained no one was home and that he couldn’t shut it off from outside.

If you have a house alarm that does not report to the police station on its own it is probably useless.

grrr

Not completely. A long time ago we had someone break into our house while we were all there. (Asleep though). I’d definatly would have appreciated an alarm going off so I could get out. Rather then waking up and finding a stranger in my room.
