It's almost 9PM... where's the Friends Thread?

Funny, there was actually a great Ross moment this week. One where instead of looking like a total fool, he got out of it.

I’m talking about the toast/towed car bit. Even when he looked like he was going to be a schmuck, (the guy walks up) he pulled out of it with the “go move it” line.

[At least Gunther WAS mentioned as a suspect…]

Ah yes - the lessons that Friends has taught us. Remember the “what if” or (whatever the hell they called it) episode? The one where Monica was still fat? She wasn’t just fat, she was intolerably stupid. So I suppose fat = stupid.

Judging by the first few seasons according to Monica’s character, thin = nice, and funny. The last few seasons? Way too thin = neurotic bitch!

I gotta write this all down on an index card…

I knew it I Knew it. It HAD to be Ross. They belong together.

But Rachel is being seriously stupid. “I’m not gonna ask him for anything.” Oh Riiiight. This is ROSS. It’s not like he’s going to just go disappear somewhere.

Of course not. He could have totally had Emily but refused to leave Ben. Although I bet they’ll dangle this in front of us till just before the series finale. Oh man this season is going to be torture.

Unless he’s walking down the street thinking “I’m going to be a father - again!” and then, BAM!

Are ANY of the characters on this show still redeemable?
Monica- Has become an awful person.
Rachel- Has always been selfish and unlikeable.
Chandler- Has become smarmy. Used to be endearing.
Ross- Once the best character, has now become a joke.
Joey and Phoebe- Hmm… I guess they are nice people.

Maybe it’s because I had a bit of a fever, but I laughed out loud more than once last night. (Of course, it took Will & Grace to get me to almost spew my orange juice.) I think Monica works best when she isn’t driving the plot. When she is, the writers kick her tendency to be shrill and less than perfectly moral into overdrive. The proposal wpisode of 18 months ago was the perfect example. But otherwise (like this week) I find it pretty funny.

I’m glad Ross is the father. I know it’s the obvious choice, but those two have such a history that one incident of recidivism is perfectly acceptable.

The Phoebe character has really gone through a renaissance in teh last couple of years. She used to be nothing but a plot device but I think she’s really funny as the essentially amoral slut she’s recently become. Maybe others disagree.

We’ve all been there. (recidivism, not parenting).

amoral slut. HehHehe. You’ll never hear that review on Entertainment Tonight!

I agree that Monica is really shrill and way too uptight. Chandler just isn’t funny anymore. I don’t see why he even stays with her. I think Joey’s Australian roommate, Janine, summed up best: “They’re just…blah. Well, he’s blah, she’s very loud.”

It feels like they’re all different people. In the beginning, Monica was really likable…it’s just that they’ve all become parodies of themselves now. I don’t think Rachel’s selfish, though. I think she’ll be a good parent- even though it’ll probably be really hard for her. Of course, she’ll have Ross.

Well, I first thought it was Ross, then changed my mind (I stated my reasoning in an earlier post). I’m glad it’s him. I’m sure he’ll want to get married, but Rachel won’t want to do something like that just because she’s pregnant. But since they’re really in love, it’ll all work out in the end. Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

I generally like Monica and I think she’s funny. The episode that really pissed me off was when they were discussing how much to spend on the wedding, and she wanted Chandler to spend his whole life saving just for that one day. I wanted to slap her silly. And then he gave in to her. How henpecked is he? Although I still like her, there are episodes (like that one) where she’s so over the top that it’s irritating.

Rachel has never been my favorite, but I do like her. She has moments of selfishness (look how she was raised), but she has managed to become an independent woman.

Chandler isn’t as funny as he used to be, but he still has his moments.

Ross…he’s okay sometimes, but sometimes he’s kinda…blah…

I like Joey more and more with each passing episode. He is dumb as a rock, but he is one of the sweetest people. And the look on his face when he realized (after everyone else) that Ross is the daddy…priceless.

And Pheobe has always been great. I love how she was planning to marry Joey even though she wasn’t pregnant. And when Monica pointed out that he’d eventually figure it out, Pheobe just says, “Monica…it’s Joey.”
