It's amazing! (Mansplaining)

He was commenting on feminism and why women don’t support other women who don’t work outside the home. I think feminists do support other women’s life choices, which is why I told him to STFU. Other people (men) started posting, and I told them to STFU also, and it went downhill from there.

I’m not sure telling someone to shut the fuck up is exactly an Everest-level peak.

I keep telling Mrs. J. that there’s no such thing as “mansplaining”, but it never goes well. :frowning:

Maybe you need to make sure she understands the definition of the term.

Sit her down for the talk. Start with “Look, honey, I’ve noticed that…” You’ll be fine.

Well actually…

My autocorrect…takes its toll, too.

Sounds like someone was walking down the street just having a think.
mmm

I’m actually keenly interested in hearing your take on it. /bats eyelashes

So why is that “mansplaining”, and not just the normal difference-of-opinion-that-goes-downhill-to-cursing-and-name-calling the infests the WWW?

Beautiful illustration of how a submissive is actually the one in charge.

It’s an eye-of-the-beholder kind of thing. Any kind of explanation or commentary about anything will be regarded as “mansplaining” by the kind of pompous ass who assumes that her audience is an assemblage of barely literate inarticulate buffons (“And for those who don’t know what pontificate means …”) and responds to any form of disagreement with “STFU”. Though one has to admit that “STFU” is pretty much the last word in unassailable argumentation, conclusively proving that the speaker has won the Internet.

Catflea. YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP.

funny, did that upset you?
It should. ANYONE will be upset when you use that phrase against them.
.
It has nothing to do with mansplaining, guys, or anything like that. It has to do with common human decency, and the lack thereof.

Lighten up, Francis.

Decent humans don’t assume that women need men to explain things to them.

Of course they don’t. But I didn’t infer that from the OP, or from any other screeds posted by the OP. But decent humans don’t automatically react to any sort of criticism with arrogant dismissiveness and contemptuous hostility.

Until I read your post, it didn’t hit me… :o

That’s some funny shit right there.

But listen closely…
You might learn somnething.

For the record, I am not a mansplainer, I’m an equal opportunity know-it-all.

I love the term “mansplaining” because it’s replacing a word I truly hate: “Hectoring”.

Hector wasn’t patronizing. He was completely right and the only character with a modicum of sense in the whole legend.
