It's been nearly six months, TubaDiva, where is the "more better stuff" you promised?

Which part?

I think Fear Itself was asking why you’re going to be around next year if it’s all that bad. Obviously, there are reasons to stick around, but like I said back in post #20, there’s not going to be any incentive for the administration to change the way they run things as long as the subscription fees keep rolling in. If you want those changes, you’re going to have to vote with your wallet.

Th brds r scrwng p gn, ths guy s mssng ll hs vls…

What do you hope to accomplish by repeating your rant over and over?

Ditto. I like the mods, and I like the people here, and I just want to be able to access the older threads in Threadspotting. That’s what I’d pay my $14.95 for.

What do people hope to accomplish by posting “Gee, George Bush sure does suck, doesn’t he?” over and over for the past six years? I’d say I have a slightly better chance of accomplishing my goal than they do (and I do mean slightly).

She does something stupid that would get any normal person at any regular job fired, and not only does she get just a slap on the wrist for 30 days, she actually is allowed to continue some of her duties here (the part she gets paid for, of course) during that time.

She repetedly makes almost-but-not-quite promises about what’s coming, dangling features like a carrot on a stick in front of membership who want the place to succeed, and so they pony up in the hopes that finally, this time, it’ll happen. And it doesn’t. Again.

She has decided that the best brand of customer service is ignoring anything she feels like, and responding on her own damn timetable.

So why am I still here? I like this place. I find it amusing, enlightening, and I like to contribute what I can. The benefit I get far outweighs my money and annoyance at the management. But because I’ve paid my money doesn’t mean I have to agree with every decision that comes along, and it even means I get to speak out when I feel that things aren’t going right. Unfortunately, many others have decided this place isn’t worth their money, and they have said bad management decisions have highly figured in to some of those decisions. That’s what I’d like to stop.

The problem with that is that if membership declines enough, they’ll shut this place down, not make changes to try to retain people. I think that we all understand that shit happens. At one time it looked like we were going to get new things and then something happened and we didn’t. I think that Tuba really believed that changes were going to be forthcoming when she made those statements. I certainly hope so anyway.

At the very least she should come in here and say that she was misinformed or the PTB changed their mind and things are going to stay the same this year. In addition, an apology is owed to the members who were treated so rudely.

You are hereby invited to give it a fucking rest already.

Please show evidence that the memebership is declining.

You are hereby invited to no longer read this thread.

I didn’t make that claim.

I haven’t read this thread. I did read the first post, then decided it wasn’t worth my while. And yet, I am made aware of its pathetic existence on a regular basis. My invitation stands.

Thanks for the bump, sweetheart. Let’s see if you and I can keep it at the top of the page for another few days.

I agree, especially since so often the powers seem to misunderstand the complaints that people do have.

Let’s see, not reading the entire thread and yet still jumping in to post an inflammatory statement aimed at another poster? My god man, why haven’t you applied to be a mod yet?! Dex and Tuba need your help!

No apology expected nor needed. It wasn’t all that offending.

As long as the thread was bumped by someone that did so to let us know to drop the thread, let me clear up the P2P mention.

It’s true that discussing P2P technology in and of itself isn’t anything that would be disallowed, and I wrapped together the tech and what it can be misused for. It just seems that almost every mention of it eventually turns to piracy and starts getting too close to the edge. That’s more of what I meant in it being almost useless to discuss, and I did a bit too much projecting in my accusation.

Whether expected or needed, I’ll apologize for that since I was in the wrong in how I presented it.

Anyway. Back to discussing why this thread is still alive.

I wouldn’t have posted in this thread, but:

I am so fucking tired of getting timed out on this board!

This is not the only message board I am a member of, although I will admit it is one of my favorites. This is the only message board I pay to be a member of.

I am fucking pissed off. I am tired of getting timed out. I am tired of having hamsters eat my posts.

I guess TPTB know I’ve made “friends” here I don’t want to leave. So the suckage will continue.

A few thousand per month, probably. That’s my guess, based on my own experience with Google ads.

If that is right, and you would be able to make a much better guess at it than I could, they would be pulling in a significant profit on the ads then. That would be about half of what the subscriptions bring in. It should allow them to buy some extra bandwidth to go with the new Server, if that is the bottleneck.

Thank you OpalCat,
Jim

Hi galt!!

Yeah, but that’s not what they’re using the money for. They’re using it to pay Ed’s salary for admining the board (at least that’s what the thread announcing the ads said, but I’ve no idea how to find it, since we can’t search for 3 letter terms).
