It's been raining hard all day. Should I feel guilty for ordering pizza?

Order the pizza and contribute to the economy.

And get extra meat.

Pizza
by Harry Chapin, with additional lyrics by Jim Steinman

It was raining hard in 'Frisco
Just one more pie to make my night
An address to which I’d never been before
The last house on the right

Oh, why do you do what it is you do?
It’s a shame you ruined your coat in the rain
She just stood in the doorway
She said, I didn’t want to be a pain

Something about this was familiar
I could swear I’d seen the look before
Folks never think where the pizza comes from
It magically shows up at the door

It took a while, but she noticed the pizza
And felt bad, and asked for my name
The guilt seemed to wash over slowly
A bit of guilt, and some shame

And she said, I needed this so badly
And thanks for coming out in the rain
And she handed me twenty dollars
For a five dollar pie
She said, sorry, keep the change

Well, another man might have been angry
And another man might have been hurt
But another man wouldn’t have been out tonight
I stashed the bill in my shirt

Let her have her white guilt
Inside her bourgeois home
For me, I’m dropping off the pizzas
Taking tips, and getting stoned
I go driving so fast, when I’m stoned

I can see myself tearing up the road
Faster than any other guy has ever gone
I can pay my rent, and my life is full
Everything is working now
I gotta make my way home
But I can’t stop thinking of the tip
And I never see the sudden curve 'til it’s way too late

Then I’m dying at the bottom of a pit in the pouring rain
Torn and twisted in the cab of a burning truck
And I think somebody somewhere must be tolling a bell
And the last thing I see is my heart still beating
It’s pumping out my blood like it’s marinara sauce
Like a pizza from hell!

Oh! :frowning:

Damn, I am so very tempted to order some delivery food now, but contrary to what I advised before, I think it might be unreasonable of me to make someone deliver tonight. Oh dilemma.

Bravo.

Pizza? Nah, I’m holding out for a hero.

Where have all the good subs gone
And where are all the rolls?
Where’s the streetwise hoagy men to sling the mayonaise?
Isn’t there a sandwich shop employing fiery steeds?
Late at night I toss and I turn
And I dream of what I need

I need a hero
I’m holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
It’s gotta be good
And it’s gotta be fast
And it’s gotta be here by tonight
Don’t want a gyro
I’m holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
It’s gotta be fresh
And it’s gotta be fast
And it’s gotta be from Jimmy Johns!

Quite the moral dilemma! You’re proving instead you’re a sympathetic, thoughtful person for even hesitating. But sure, it’ll probably help your conscience to throw him a few extra bucks on top of it. No need to feel shame all day while eating pizza. That’d just ruin the pizza.

Most pizza places don’t accept checks, except maybe from companies. If you call them, they’ll ask if you pay by cash or card. If you order by internet, it’ll always be by card.

I delivered pizza in the Portland area for years. Rain was just something you put up with, no real biggie. Snow was considered extraordinary by everyone else around here, but I didn’t think it was anything to worry about. Never had any real problems delivering in it. While the tips were somewhat better when it snowed, they weren’t dramaticaly better.
